~Snowbird Chat 2~

Oh Shawna, condolences to you and ALL of your church family. :grouphug:

What a legacy your friend Mr. Sam has left. And rest assured that the Lord is shining brightly through you, too!

Congratulations to Gracie on her big day! :flower3:

Thank you! I am excited for her!

Shawna - prayers for everyone that God gives you peace during this time. And congratulations to Gracie!! Make sure you give her a great big hug from all of us:flower3:!

I need advice experts! It's been 2 yrs since we've been to Disney, 2 1/2 since we've flown there, and as the travel planner of the family, I'm freaked I'm going to forget some important step and screw things up. Not that my family would care-WE'RE IN DISNEY! But I wanted to check with you guys.

We're flying Airtran, so we'll check the bags in STL and see them at Pop? Then we can check them in at Pop on departure day, pay baggage fees there ( ), and see them back in STL? And we can check 24 hrs before our flight leaves and Andy can pick his seat (I paid for a row of 3 for me and the boys-Andy gets to take his chances )?

Lastly-are there any pros/cons to doing the online check in for the hotel? We won't get to the hotel until at least 9pm, and I'm doubting at that late check in, that we'll get our first floor, 60's poolside room that I requested. pirate: But, WE'RE STILL AT DISNEY!!!

Any help would be appreciated!!

Oh Shawna!:hug: I'm so sorry for the losses you are experiencing, but isn't it nice to know that both people were followers of God and you know they will be right there with him?
Congrats to Gracie and I think it's super cool that Mike got to baptize all 3!!

Jenny - I have never flown Airtran, but your comments sound right to me. As far as online checkin for the hotel - I think it has been said that if you would want to change rooms if you don't get your request, you should do it the old fashioned way. Otherwise, it is usually quicker to do it online and then the CM won't stand there and tell you all about which credit card you want on file, all the stuff about the resort etc. I've never done it, but have heard it's pretty slick. For a late arrival, it might be nice to just get to the room quicker and crash.

Wow, I have lots of Snowbird news to catch up on. Sarah, I'm so sorry to hear about your cruise friend. Even people we haven't known for very long can become an important part of our lives. Shelly and Kim, I am also keeping your grandpa and father-in-law in my prayers.

Sarah, did you also have a birthday? :bday: a few days late!

Hope you all have a happy Disney day! I'm looking forward to keeping up better now that things are getting back to normal around here!

Thanks so much, Kathy! :) I did have a birthday on Tuesday. Where do the years go?! And thank you, regarding my cruise friend. They held a memorial service for him on Wednesday. So strange...

Well, I spent most of the earlier part of the week forcing my family into making ADR decisions! Our 180 days starts on Tuesday... how does it work these days? Is it still 180 + 10 or is it just 180? Anyway, I wrangled decisions out of them and passed them on to our TA (bwhaha). I'll probably handle the few that we're missing on my own, but those aren't the OH NO URGENT places we want to eat out.

It'll be a different trip with a 9 month old, that's for sure! My brother and his wife were planning on taking 3 days and driving from MA to FL. Over Christmas, they drove 6 hours from MA to PA... and she screamed the whole way. They're now buying airfare. Hah!!

Happy Baptism Day Gracie!!:littleangel:

Thought I'd share a couple pictures from Colorado quick.

Beautiful pictures! Colorado is a beautiful place to visit . . . In the summer LOL. My sister lives there for a short time.

Lazy Sunday here for us. I'm trying to getthe baby down for a nap but he's being stubborn. He keep blowing raspberries on my belly. Anything to stay awake. I really need him to sleep, though LOL. I need to shower prior to Ry's soccer game.

I thought I remembered that you and my DD shared a birthday. Hope you had a good one! :goodvibes

Well, I've been getting all caught up on my DISing since MIL left, and now I'm suffering from Disney Withdrawl. :sad2: It's been almost two years since our last WDW trip. And so many of you have been back at least once (or twice, or more!) since then! We did get to go to DLP last spring, and that was fun, but somehow just not the same. But I have been looking at the calendar and pricing up a return visit. :rolleyes1

Speaking of Snowbirds who've made lots of recent WDW trips, has anyone heard from Wendy recently?

Definitely sounds like you need to start planning a trip! I get Disney withdrawal between trips. It's way worse now that I'm an adult. We were there last January but stayed at the Hilton DTD. Even there, it didn't feel the same. I can't wait to drive onto the property and not have a care in the world other than "will I make it to my ADR on time"

Hi Birdies! I'm awaiting the snow we're supposed to get this afternoon. Schools are letting out at 2pm so Andrew is thrilled to say the least.

We've all got colds here again and are going through lots of kleenex. Not too bad this time though, thankfully.

Shawna- Sorry to hear about your loss. Keeping you in my thoughts even more these days. Congrats to Gracie!

Sheree- How's your Dad? Is he home and recovering?

:wave2: to all the rest of my Birdie friends...

Happy Baptism Day Gracie!!:littleangel:

Speaking of long lost Snowbird friends... I've been thinking of Rick and his kids this month. I hope they are having a wonderful time in Disney like Joni hoped.

Good morning Snowbirds

Our big snowstorm is supposed to start around noon today. Not one single flake has fallen yet. We aren't supposed to get it as bad as areas surrounding us. The whole state is under some kind of winter storm warning.

Shawna -- I'm so sorry for your loss. Congrats to Gracie. :goodvibes

Awesome Colorado pics. I'd love to visit out west some day.

I haven't heard from Wendy since right after our vacation. She was there the same week and we shared a photopass. So it's been a few months. :confused3

I was just thinking about Rick and the kids the other day. I hope they have a wonderful vacation. :wizard:

DS9 started indoor soccer this past weekend. He's never done indoor before. It's a lot different than what he is used to. But he loves it and is doing great! :cheer2:

That's about it around here. I took an all week subbing job for next week, so I probably won't be around here much.

Hope all is well with all of you! :grouphug:

Dull week at work - hope to start my PTR today. Need to "dream" up a title!

My Dad is doing good - thanks for asking! He came home Friday and has been lounging around! He goes to see his cardiologist tomorrow and his reg dr. next week just to check everything. The good news is he hasn't smoked in a week!!! It was a forced quit, but still...it might stick!

That's great news Sheree! I'm glad he is doing well. I hope he can stick with the not smoking. :wizard: I know I was so happy when my dad quit smoking about 15 years ago!

Spreading some Snowbirdie Pixie Dust, Prayers and Best Wishes to those of you experiencing losses and those celebrating some special moments! :grouphug:

I have popped on here today stressed, I understand my stress is WDW induced and I am very lucky to have an upcoming trip... but I am at the typical point of panic.

I again am behind in my organization ( yes I am a prepacker, not a last minute type of gal - oh and I like warm peanut butter) ;)

This will be DDs last chance at being a BBB princess and we have struggled to find the Rapunzel dress. They currently have it in WOD at DTD, BUT they cannot guarantee it will be in stock when we arrive. today DH bought what he thought was the costume (bless him) but according to the Disney Store it is a nightgown - it states for dress up at bedtime :confused3.

I was also foolish enough to buy some things from disneyshopping online... the shipping to Canada was pathetic. I should have shipped to the room, but I am not sure how far out you can do that?

I did it last year, but personally spoke with the shipper (ebay etc.) so it all worked out.

I am rambling ! Can I go with the flow on this vacation - that was the plan! :rolleyes1

Never fails- I made myself a yummy sandwich, sat down in the rocking chair with my laptop to DIS and stare at all the kids until they fall asleep and wouldn't you know it- my 2yr old little daycare guy sits up on his cot, looks at me funny and pukes all over the carpet. I lost my appetite. His dad just picked him up and I just finished sanitizing everything. I hate the stomach virus. Snotty noses I can handle. Puking not so much.

I miss Disney. I need a vacation.

Glad DS is enjoying soccer. We've been talking about putting Andrew into lacrosse (Jason played so it's his sport LOL) but once camping season arrives it might make for some scheduling conflicts. :confused3
Have fun subbing next week!

Glad to hear he's doing so well and hopefully this makes him kick the habit for good. My dad has smoked since he was 14. He's now 58 and I fear the day it catches up with him. He's tried quitting SO many times but it never lasts.

What size do you need? I live between 2 Disney stores and can check there if you want. I can ship it wherever you pick :goodvibes I only ask that you not mention warm PB in return for my kindness
