As long as I haven't posted the update giving away any answers I will accept revisions. I have all of the pictures downloaded and TR update about half written, so I wouldn't take too long........ :rolleyes1

Ok, I thought you might be a'writin'.

After thinking about the evening and how Ali had been feeling for most of the day, AND the (starting white now) fact that you had your own car, I'm going to change to that you drove yourselves there? And back, obviously.

Hmm, 65th birthday party at Disney!!! I think you need to decide when and start sending out the invites to everyone. What a DISmeet that could turn out to be!!!
:

Well I have sorta made a few plans !! Check out my ptr !!!Going over to spiil a few beans :banana:

We left the MK and walked over to catch a bus. After about a 5 minute wait our bus arrived and we were headed to Kidani. The plans for the evening were to head back to the MK, catch the ferry over to Wilderness Lodge for our Dinner ADR at Whispering Canyon Cafe, and then head back to the MK to use up our fastpasses. Ah, the best laid plans.........

We got back to Kidani and started thinking about the rest of the schedule and that our days would be busier the rest of the trip than the laid back style we had used so far. It had been a few days since we left my Dad's house and with 5 people the dirty clothes were starting to accumulate, so DW and I decided we needed to take advantage of the few hours we had and get some laundry done. We normally don't have to worry about that since we are typically in a 1-bedroom villa with the machines in the room where we can let them run while we are in the parks or at night while we sleep. But being in two studios this trip we had to take advantage of the laundry room at Kidani; shared with so many of our closest friends.

After getting everything together we headed to the laundry room (while the boys stayed in and watched the A-Team movie) and got lucky since there were some clothes running in the dryers, but the washers were empty. We loaded everything in and sat down to wait. DW had her book to read, I had my Sudoku puzzles to work on, and the TV in the laundry room was at our disposal. Ah, the price you have to pay to "keep it clean."

The washers were pretty quick and as we got everything loaded in the dryers we were looking good on time. The dryers however weren't quite as efficient. As the time sped along some of the items were finished and as we got them folded I took what was done back to the room while DW continued to wait it out. The time to leave for our dinner ADR was fast approaching as I got everything put away, and quickly changed for the cooler evening we expected. I headed back to the laundry room to wait for the rest of the clothes to finish while DW headed back to the room to get ready to go. We had already told the boys to be ready and when the last of the clothes were done, we were already running later than I felt comfortable with to meet our schedule, so it looked like we were in for a drive over to WL instead of the ferry ride I had wanted to enjoy. :guilty:

We arrived at WL about 5:30, quickly parked and made our way to WCC. We had little time to spare as I parked the car, but there was still enough time to take a couple of pictures on the way in.

We still managed to check in on time for our 5:40 ADR. WCC was busy that night, but not really crowded and we were soon seated not far from the check-in area. Since I didn't make a reservation this trip for 50s PTC, I was looking forward to this new experience. I love playing with the CMs and having them play along at 50’s Prime Time, and read a lot on the DIS for what to expect and how to have the most “fun!”

All of us ordered the Canyon Skillet for dinner except for Andrew, who ordered a chicken penne pasta. Sadly I didn’t take any pictures of the food since the Canyon Skillet has been documented so many times on the DIS. I guess I should have gotten a picture of Drew’s penne pasta, which he really enjoyed. I can’t really say the same for the rest of us and the Canyon Skillet, at least for Matt, Jon and myself. It isn’t that it wasn’t good, because it was. And they had the brisket on the platter, which was very good. The problem was with our choice earlier in the day and our meal at Cosmic Ray’s. As a reminder, the four “boys” all shared the chicken and ribs combo which was a lot of food, and here we were once again eating a canyon skillet that featured chicken and ribs, among other items. Everything I ate was really good, but I don’t think any of us who ate at Cosmic Ray’s even touched the chicken. It was just way too much of a good thing. :sad2:

During the meal things were fairly quiet in WCC, especially compared to everyone who I have heard complain it can get too loud. My family likes to play when the opportunity presents itself. Our waitress, Loopy Lisa, persuaded Matthew to ask for ketchup (which wasn’t too difficult anyway) and of course a lot of younger kids came from all over the dining room to cover our table with ketchup bottles. A little later in the meal someone else asked for ketchup and Andrew gathered up an armload of bottles and met the call.

As we were eating they made the announcement for the Hobby Horse race, and invited all of the “children” to join in. Andrew is still at that age where he is growing up fast, but still clinging to the “children” side and isn’t embarrassed to play along. He was leading most of the race until a little girl cut him off at one of the corners. We gave him a hard time about that one….. :rotfl2:

We were already full when it came time for dessert. Andrew is never too full for ice cream, and quickly finished his off. I ordered the Apple Pie with ice cream at the recommendation of Loopy Lisa as their signature dessert, and everyone else just ordered the Apple Pie to take with them to the room.

As I was trying to finish an adequate amount of my apple pie before we left, Drew asked Loopy Lisa what he had to do to get some of the Mickey stickers he saw the hostess and one of the other waitresses handing out at the front desk. Loopy Lisa got Drew up in the middle of the dining room and introduced him to everybody and told them he was going to entertain them with his rendition of “I’m a little teapot.” Drew was good natured about it and a majority of the diners nearby joined him as he sang. It was a busy night for Andrew, and he seemed to really have a good time. He earned his Mickey stickers.

Right after he finished I noticed something going on at a nearby table, and the waitress had brought the dad one of those really huge wooden forks, the type you typically see mounted to a wall. I was really wanting to find out what the dad did to “earn” the fork, and if there was also a spoon I could earn, but we were past ready to go and I decided not to worry about it.

As a review of the apple pie, I wasn't overly excited about it. The Granny Smith apples were still crunchy, and I like the apples in my pie to be softer. The spices weren't quite to my taste either.

We got our bill and had everything settled just a little over an hour from when we got seated. We left WCC behind and took some time to view some more of the sights and decorations in the WL lobby area.

I really liked the way this area was decorated.

We headed to the car and drove back to Kidani. We hadn’t gotten a really good picture yet of the sign with its Christmas decorations, so I stopped quickly while Ali got a picture out the window.

As we got back to Kidani we were trying to decide what we wanted to do. Nobody was really excited about going anywhere to do rides, and I was concerned about when all the Christmas decorations would start to disappear. We hadn’t seen the Osborne Family Festival of Lights yet, and even though I knew they were supposed to be there a while longer, that is what Alison and I decided we wanted to do before turning in. The boys didn’t really want to go out anywhere because of all the food, but Andrew decided reluctantly to go with us to DHS. We headed out to the bus stop to catch a DHS bus and a few buses showed up, but we weren’t seeing any come by for DHS. After a few minutes Drew said if one wasn’t there in about two minutes, he was heading to the room. Well sure enough the time came and passed and off he went, leaving Alison and I out there alone. We waited about another five minutes and realized how tired we were, so we decided to give it up and turn in for the night.

It seemed a wise idea for everyone to get a good night’s sleep since the next day we were determined to finally make rope drop as we headed to…..

Coming Up - Chapter 19 Disney Hollywood Studios and the TSMM Mad Dash

What the....? Do I get credit for Osborn Lights since you tried, but gave up?

Sorry that your meal at WCC wasn't better. It seems like it was bad timing, with the similar lunch you had. Maybe you'll have to give it another try sometime, I thought the chicken was fantastic.

Wow - totally foiled about what actually happened. :lmao:

Laundry- that's what you are calling it now???:lmao:

I certainly hope you got to see the lights at some point.

So much to comment on, yet, it's Sunday. I'll be back sometime tom to reply....

And you call me a "hot latte". What about the "laundry"? Riiiiight. :rotfl2:

Wonderful Update Marv !!! I think I will arrange for them to make Judy be a little Teapot !!:rotfl2:Or better still Steph !!!!:lmao:Or maybe Kyle !!:confused3Ya'll know I'd do it in a Heartbeat!!:lmao::lmao:

My co worker Misti was watching the pix and says they are COOL!!!

Well I have sorta made a few plans !! Check out my ptr !!!Going over to spiil a few beans :banana:
Saw the plans but wasn't quite clear. Are you planning to go BEFORE the 65th Birthday and be there 12/11, or waiting until well after your birthday and going 12/12??? Might have to try and plan so I can be there for the huge party!!!
and that's why you moved it...:sad1:

I'd never been a stalker before....I was looking forward to testing out my stealthy skills :cool2: :tiptoe:
No way I moved it because you would be there! I was agreeing not getting to do a DISmeet was another one of the negatives to having to change it!
Oh the rumor wasn't true , someone said Marv was doing an update !!!!:rolleyes1:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
I'm with you Rosie. I saw some activity here and thought just maybe.....but no.
Okay, who's posting these huge lies that there was a TR Update coming???? :confused3

oh I know....I was just funnin' :thumbsup2

But I think I may be due for another shot at a Christmas trip next year! Maybe I'll have to wait until then to test my skills.

Rosie, please keep us updated on the big birthday bash plans. I have a small contract of points at boardwalk, I'd like to try to get in on the fun (assuming circumstances allow at that time)

Marv, I think I dont do so well at your game.:confused3

Nice update, Marv! Glad that Andrew enjoyed the "fun" at WCC and that you enjoyed your meal despite having eaten too much at lunch. The pics at WCC for Christmas are very nice.

I see I've missed some banter but I didn't miss an update! :woohoo:

Isn't doing laundry on vacation the worst? I can't stand it. :sad2:

I would give WCC another chance but the skillet didn't WOW me... it was ok but I was expecting a little more... (quality not food)

Glad the boys got in on some of the antics... we had fun there too.

Bummer on missing the Studios, but I have faith you had the chance to see the Osbourne lights:thumbsup2

Yes Tim I think you are right about the Skillet !!Lot of food but nothing outstanding !! I may order a steak:rotfl2:

Okay, I'm not on the rules committee, but I will make a plea for you, as the question I believe was: what did Marv and Ali really want to accomplish that night? Not what did they actually do.

Sorry your meal was a little less than you expected, but it sounds like Andrew had ad great time! I think sometimes rest is just in order on vacation. Glad you will be rested up for your next big day! (I am not allowed to have smileys tonight - it's driving me crazy!)
