For those who snow plow or pay someone to do it. I have a question.
Do you pay per storm or per time they come?
Lets say we get 8-10 inches of heavy snow. The Snow plower has to come maybe 1/2 into the storm and then has to come back to clean it up.
So, they are doing it twice. So if they are charging 30. that means by the time the storm is over it would be 60.
I was just wondering what others do:)

around here they require you to pay by the season. We bought a snow blower. Should pay for itself in 2 seasons.

Our condo association has always had a choice: Pay per season or pay per inch.

It probably would even out, either way, as long as you don't keep switching to the wrong choice each year. :)

We pay for every 6 inches of snow. If we got 8 inches, we would pay twice.

We've paid two ways- per season or per push (so we'd pay twice in a storm).

We bought a snow blower 3 seasons ago (this is the 3rd year we are using it). Best decision ever.

I live in MN. Owning a snowblower is one of those requirements of normal life around here...sort of like owning a car. Our 18 year old snowblower went caput during this last storm of 18". We bought a new larger one lickity split. These pay for themselves pretty quickly around here.

$220 for the season.. quite a deal in upstate NY.

I believe he comes every 3 inches.

My DH said he thinks it's $17 a trip if we want to pay that way.

thanks everyone. I do think its only fair to pay each time they come:thumbsup2 But if we get 2 feet of snow it could get a little $$:worship::rotfl2:

We live in Southern Colorado-i cant imagine not owning a working snowblower-and we havent had any snow to speak of this year-its all falling in Florida:rotfl2:

In our subdivision - many houses use the same servicethey come every 3-4 inches. DOESN'T MATTER WHAT TIME OF THE MORNING...oops - that should be a whole different thread.

The do at least 10 houses in our subdivision, and charge $20 per "episode". the driveways in our subdivision are aourn 2000 to 2500 sq feet.

Now - DH has a snowblower attachment for our garden tractor - so we've never paid for someone to plow the driveway. Heck - it is so easy to do that even I can do it. (luckily - my services are only needed 1 or 2 times per year.;))

The first year we had a snowblower for our tractor - we had really jealous neighbors.:rotfl:

Our septice system runs down the length of our driveway - so we are really cautious about having a snowplow service "dumping" tons of snow in that area. (As to if we blow the snow - we can get it past the septic area.)

I wish we could find someone to do this. DH has called 4 different businesses and none of them have even come by to give us a quote. They don't want to be bothered doing a residence. They want to do businesses. We are going to have a problem this year because DS is going to FL in 2 weeks for 4 months to do the college program and DH travels a lot of business leaving me home alone to do all the shoveling. I want to have someone I know will show up when the snow is more then 1-2 inches.

Starwood--have you tried contacting local landscaping companies? Where I live a lot of them switch to providing snow removal services during the winter. Another thought--what do your neighbours do about snow removal? They might be able to provide a referral for you.

We live in Ohio in what they consider the "snow belt" $125 for the season which is a great deal!

That is good - where are you? We are in Twinsburg and I am waiting on parts to be delivered so my DH can fix our snowblower - it broke during the last storm.

Ours works exactly the same as yours. Same price too. We had some neighbors switch to a different company because they had service issues but the pricing is still the same.

We pay per plow. Last night we got 14" of snow. They came 2x. $120 total. They also shovel the walks. We've called around a few times but everyone else quoted us more.
