Snow pictures..show'em off..

I'd take pictures, but I don't want to remember this storm. Got between 24 and 30 inches just west of Dulles Airport. Loudoun County schools are already closed for Monday and Tuesday. We don't have anywhere to put the snow. Our driveway takes up the full front of the townhouse. There isn't enough room between the driveways to put all the snow. Beginning to think we won't get out until April!

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm kind of jealous of you all! We got maybe an inch, inch and a half here last night, and this is the only snow I've seen this winter (it snowed 2 other times, but I was at WDW both times, not that I'm complaining about that!) I really wouldn't mind being snowed in for a few days; I know my situation's better than a lot of people's for that, though, as I live within walking distance of both a grocery store and a Walgreens (as well as numerous pizza, etc., places) and work from home, so I'd have no reason to be out mucking around in it. But still.

I was sooo happy to see him walk in the door!!!! He got a huge hug:hug:. I do worry about him out in the weather. Not his driving skills, he's excellent and has been driving for around 30 years. But last week's snow caught him in an accident. He was coming home from the eastern shore on Rt 50 right before the Bay bridge and a fellow in the center lane pulled in front of DH, who was in the right lane, with little room to spare and immediately applied his brakes hard to pull in to a McDonalds. DH tried to stop but hit him. The car ended up on it's side. Luckily, the guy wasn't hurt. The state trooper ticketed the guy up for an unsafe lane change and lectured him about how 18-wheelers can't stop on a dime.

Some people are JUST STUPID. I am glad the cop gave him a ticket. What if your DH did hurt him or worse--the kid is just dang lucky and good thing your DH doesn't have to live with hurting someone because that someone was STUPID. A friend of our's drove an ice delivery truck one summer when he was in college. He was coming up to an intersection that didn't have good visibility because of a high wall but there was a signal light and he had a green light. Well, some kid on a bike "ran" the red light, right under the tire of the delivery truck. The kid died and now our friend has to live with that forever.

Stay home people-it just isn't worth it. If you need to get out, do what people do here and go snowmobiling in the street :lmao:.

I have a few....we're under a LOT of snow.

We're so tired here, and are with you in that we don't want to remember this crapola!!!! That said, it's hilarious that your schools have already been closed for Monday and Tuesday. The entire group here is laughing at that.

Even by PA's standards, this is a LOT of snow, but I think we'll all be dug out come Monday and I doubt schools will be closing.

Hubby did take a pic of our lab out there. I don't know how to upload a pic here though. The dog is sticking her tongue out at him. :rotfl2:

Know just how you feel. DH seems to always be going in the same direction as the snow! (he drives 48 states) He hasn't been in an accident (knocking on wood and saying a little prayer) but has come up on some pretty bad ones in the ice and snow. Most from either a car or another truck (you'd think they would know better) running out in front of the truck. I can always hear the nerves in his voice when he sees a really bad wreck, I know its got to be nerve wracking knowing how many are out there driving without a clue.

It would be wise for all of you that have all that snow on your roofs to invest in a roof rake and get some of that snow off before it starts to melt and freeze and cause a huge ice dam.

My step dad was a truck driver, so growing up, I've heard lots of stories too. It's unreal that anyone would pull in front of a 18 wheeler and just expect all will be fine and dandy.

I'm glad to hear that he made it home safely. I can't even imagine how that must have been waiting that length of time.

God bless your DH. I always feel so terribly for our truckers, having to deal with those idiots on the road.

Ok, I asked on the other blizzard thread but I will ask here too-is is snowing at the ocean? Does it snow there? Any pictures of the beach with snow?

Sorry to hear, so glad your DH wasn't hurt ! The way some people drive makes you wonder how they even got their license ?! DH totaled his 'beloved' Jeep this summer. Some lady stopped for a turtle and created a 4 car wreck :guilty:! Thankfully his Jeep took the brunt of it, as DH only had minor injuries, but one of those things that makes you shake your head!!! :sad2:

I live about 10 miles south of Tina (the OP) (HI TINA!!!).

My neighbor across the driveway lost about half a pine tree from the weight of the snow.

My son's dog was having trouble finding a place to, um, you know.

The measuring tape says 26 inches, but it was still snowing and we got probably another 2 or 3 inches after this photo was taken.

Not sure what our final tally of snow is but I know it is 20+ inches

Almost lost him :rotfl:

These pictures are all beautiful !(especially since I am no where near that nasty white stuff) Especially enjoyed all the dogs-in-snow pictures. Thanks for posting them all! (and making me doubly glad I live down here)

I didn't take any photos, but we got about 6 inches last night. It's very strange that the PA folks south of us got SOOO much more than we did! Usually it's the other way around. It's all good, though. I hate snow!
