Snow on the way?

Even more snow during the night. I should be at uni right now but a bus overturned round the corner from me so the bus services have been stopped in my estate. Looking at the roads around where I live I can't see me getting very far for a while.

What makes it worse was yesterday Newcastle United's game went ahead, seeing all the grit they'd put down on the walk ways and the road and then looking at our estate with not a single bit of grit disgusted me. Obviously safety is the main concern for football matches, but it could have been called off...

We've had a lot of snow here in N Ireland. Much to my daughter's annoyance her school has remained open! But we've since had a big snowfall and the gritted roads are carpeted in snow so I'm a bit worried about her getting home.

We have woken up to snow on the North Wales coast ... not very deep but it has settled on the roads. Just hope the major roads have been gritted. Looks like my shopping trip we have to be postponed.

Snow finally arrive here . We got about 1inch over night :thumbsup2

We've got 18 inches. Roads and footpaths are a mess. Snow over the top of my wellies. Schools still open but have closed at 12noon today and yesterday.

Aviemore can have all the snow, will keep the skiers happy. :)

Couple snow showers here but not lying yet!!

My friends parents will be pleased then as they have holiday cottages in Aviemore for skiers:thumbsup2

We have had about 5 inches of snow the past couple of days. Makes it interesting for work, the past 2 day shifts we have only been back to station for our 30 min meal break in the 12 hour shifts. I now have 2 night shifts to contend with:eek:

Pretty much knee deep here and more due to come in tonight. Schools closed today and we were told they won't open the rest of the week. I found out at 8.20 am today and had to quickly change DD, try get hold of my mum to see if she could take her for the day, run (trudge) along to Granny's house..... Now 20 minutes late for work I ran out of my parents' house and managed to drop my bunch of keys into the snow. They just disappeard :confused3 - sank right through. Of course all the house keys, office keys, etc are on there so I had to find them. I ended up running to the nearest door and asking for help. :rotfl: What a day!

Scottishmum, you must have got that "Thunder Snow" they talked about on the news/weather last night. I thought they were at it :lmao: Thunder snow? Is that an official term? :rotfl2:

Oh god!!

My area hasn't actually been bad today, there was 2 tiny tiny episodes of snow and barely even noticeable!

I've been working from home this week (which I'm so glad I can do, only been in this job about 6 weeks and first time I've ever had the opportunity to work from home) but I'm starting to feel a bit guilty, does that make sense? My boss has been great, basically said don't take any risks as you can work from home. I just feel I'm taking advantage a bit, she isn't actually based in our office but down South so she obviously can't assess our situation.

As I said my area seems to be better today, but you know that way with snow your area could be fine but as soon as you go a few streets away it can be a totally different ballgame!

We've been getting little flurries for a few days now but nothing's been settling. I've just looked out the window and everywhere's white. At last!!

Hope you've looked out today Elaine because it's quite thick for Bournemouth. DS school has closed for the first time in 20 years

I'm so glad I'm off until Tuesday using up my holidays :yay:

We havent had too much, the footpaths are sheer ice though, and as i still have to carry Megan i darent venture out in it at the moment.

We went to France on Tuesday and it really showed a difference between us and them. The channel tunnel area hadnt been gritted - even the ramps down to the trains hadnt been cleared of snow let alone gritted. About 4 cars went into the back of each other in front of us. Yet when we got to France all of the main roads we went on had been ploughed and gritted - same with all the car parks.
