Christmas is just around the corner - imagine what things will be like when they start thinking this way at MCO . . . total gridlock at security.

WINDSOR LOCKS – State police evacuated the public lobby and security check point area at Bradley International Airport Sunday morning as a precaution after Transportation Security Administration officers found a suspicious item in carry-on luggage.

The item turned out to be a snow globe.

The evacuation happened around 10 a.m. and lasted between 40 and 50 minutes, operations officials said.

The incident happened when officers saw the snow globe on the X-ray machines and identified it as possibly suspicious. Further investigation showed it was not dangerous and operations resumed as scheduled, officials said.

Disney needs to post easily-seen signs in the gift shops to tell guests that snow globes, swords, etc. are not allowed in baggage.

They do post them. Just last week the woman checking me out at DD reminded me as I was buying one that I had to put it in my checked bag.

:headache:

Scan scan scan scan...person tries to say "it's a snowglobe"...TSA agents ignore the person...scan scan scan, lockdown of airport...scan scan scan..."no really it's a snowglobe, just LOOK with your eyes", TSA ignores person...scan scan scan...

NOt that I've had tastes of that experience with a pack of batteries (in an outside pocket that they could have looked into without touching it) or a non-ipod MP3 player or anything...

In May of 2009 I packed two snow globes in one of our carry on bags without thinking about the liquid. Unfortunately that was also the trip that my DH lost his wallet on RnRC. I gave him what I thought would be the easiest bag to carry through security (a bag of dirty laundry) since he'd be subject to extra screening without his license. Unfortunately that was also the bag I had put the snow globes in!! :headache:

Luckily the TSA agent must have been a nice guy because he simply confiscated the snow globes and was very apologetic about it.

It definitely could have turned out much differently!!!

They do. Guests pay as much attention to that as they do anything else that Disney prints up for their benefit---which is to say, not much.

The truly sad thing is that airborne binary liquid explosives are total fantasy. The fixation on non-threats is partly why the TSA has such dismal Red Team test results.
