Snow Day!

I’m just south of Buffalo. The winter storm warning goes from 7 pm today to 10 pm tomorrow. Predicting 18 inches or more. I may just call in & make my own snow day. I‘m going to retire in 75 days. I’ve been doing battle with snowstorms getting to/ from college & work for 46 years. I’ve been stuck over night at work or on the road 4 times. It’s taken hours to make the 25 minute ride to my house so many times I’ve lost count. I’m done.

I just remember my mom and her siblings talking about Snow Days. When they were kids it just meant you left for school earlier. And as working adults in "essential" jobs it meant you left for work earlier and had a change of clothing because you HAD to get to work, but you might not be able to get home so you would spend the night at work. My mom was an RN and apparently had to do that when she worked in both Winnipeg and Minneapolis.
