Snow Day!

We don’t have many snow days, so everyone is hyped! I live in NC, close to Charlotte, but have been in the mountains since Thursday. We’re house hunting and needed to spend a few days meeting realtors, etc. We will be heading back home, very slowly, today. We currently have about 3 inches where we’re at in the mountains, and it’s still coming down.

I grew up in NY, just outside of Buffalo, so snow is not new to me. But my husband and kids rarely see it and get so excited. It’s fun to see it through their eyes.

Tonight will be grilled cheese and soup for dinner. Perfect snow day meal!

I'm not thrilled about it.
We are expecting 22" of wet heavy snow and I have to maintain multiple driveways and all I have is a shovel.

I love snow. It’s the ice I hate. I’m hoping for snow today, the areas north & east of me are seeing accumulation but we are still in the rain/ sleet phase.

Count me in as a fan of a nice snow day! We've had positively freezing weather lately and it would be so much nicer with snowfall, the way it softly crunches underfoot in the silence and gathers gently on three branches like the down falling from angel wings - love it. Enjoy your time with your family, tomato soup and grilled cheese is a nice way to share the experience.

One of my favorite traits of the character Lorelai Gilmore is how she stops everything just to stand still for snow.

If I didn’t have to go anywhere, I would love snow. Someday, when I win the lottery, I will have a house in a nice snowy place and just stay home enjoying the view.

However, I hate being out in the cold and wet, I hate walking on ice or snow, and I especially hate driving in it. I remember when I was in high school, they closed school early one day due to heavy snow. I drove to school, and had to drive home on roads I couldn’t see, and try to turn into an invisible driveway that had deep ditches on either side. I was a nervous wreck by the time I got home. I don’t miss that at all.

Same here, starts about 5am. It keeps changing. 20-30cm, no 35, no 25. Whatever, it’s a storm. Ugh. I’m working from home, but have a dentist appt at 6pm
Back to school finally for these kids, and I think it’ll be a snow day.

I'm praying for a snow day. But it's a rare occurrence for Toronto to actually get one, so I really have no hope. lol.
I just hate driving in the snow.

Jealous of those that get snow days!
We get snow 5 months of the year and the last snow day was a blizzard in 1996.
Hate big snow falls and the commute to work!

Thank you! My husband will drive me his truck ( he doesn’t know it yet ) My son is almost 26, so snow days are no longer a thing for us. I hope you get one.

The whole time my kids were in K-grade 11 we didn’t have 1 snow day. I hear you @CdnCarrie, we get a bad long winter too

I’m just south of Buffalo. The winter storm warning goes from 7 pm today to 10 pm tomorrow. Predicting 18 inches or more. I may just call in & make my own snow day. I‘m going to retire in 75 days. I’ve been doing battle with snowstorms getting to/ from college & work for 46 years. I’ve been stuck over night at work or on the road 4 times. It’s taken hours to make the 25 minute ride to my house so many times I’ve lost count. I’m done.

We had some bad weather in Florida today with tornados in Ft. Myers and Naples. The front moved through Miami without any drama, but it's getting cold. 57F tonight and 49F tomorrow night. Heat on, extra blankets on, ski parkas ready!

My elder DD is at their cabin in the mountains of N. Georgia and she built a snowman today.
