Snow day = try on clothes and begin packing for March

Sounds like a plan:thumbsup2

I think I will do the same. I haven't brought the suitcases out yet because my cats like to sleep in them or on them. It's their form of vacation protest:rotfl:

But I do think I will make my 8 yr old start trying on his stuff from last summer. I did buy him some new things in anticipation of the trip already.

Which reminds me. Anyone looking for summer stuff for the kids.. Old Navy has 40% off all baby and kids clothes today. I'm still trying to decide if I should buy anything since we don't technically *need* anything. Snow days are dangerous internet shopping days!

14 more sleeps to go!!!:cool1:

Sooooooooo jealous.

We are leaving this morning for Burlington......the boy has a high school basketball tournament later this afternoon and tomorrow. Its a 2.5 hour drive for us in good weather. I can only imagine how harrowing the commute will be today :scared: .

I kept hoping I'd get an email form the coach saying its cancelled, but so far, nothing :confused3 .

I wish I was internet shopping and Disney dreaming instead!!!

Yikes Gina!! I am amazed they haven't cancelled it. All the schools are shut down in Niagara. The Burlington/Hamilton area is supposed to be nasty driving:scared:

That is crazy....should be cancelled. The roads are going to be awful. BE CAREFUL!!!

Gina, maybe call the coach to be sure?? The corridor you will be driving in is awful right now and supposed to stay that way most of the day. It's going to be slow moving and lots of accidents. I just checked because my husband had a class in Hamilton today.. the college is completely shut down.

Hoping for a snow day in Atlantic Canada tomorrow!
You're right! Snow day = trying on day! :yay: I just hope swim suits still fit the kids - I always find them hard to find locally at this time of year. Usually have to resort to lands end.
If you have to be on the roads, be safe. :goodvibes

We tried all the shorts on. Wow has that boy grown! We had about 15 pairs and 8 were still good. I matched them up with t-shirts and grabbed some jammies and his swim suit and he is ready to pack! That was super easy.
I'm going to have to wait and see about sweaters and pants until we can see the weather forecast but he is mostly done!

Just got an email a few moments ago. Today's portion of the tournament is cancelled. The school is running an 8-team, one-day event tomorrow instead. Coach is to evaluate the weather later this morning and decide if we can safely travel tonight. Things look pretty bad here right now, so quite honestly, I am hoping he pulls the plug entirely and gives us the weekend off.

Thanks to you all for the kind concern :goodvibes . Love this Disboards community!!! :)

So glad you won't be on the road today. Hope it's all cancelled and you get to stay home. :goodvibes

Shorts is going to be the problem here too! My daughter has grown so much this year - sad to see her pass me! I have a feeling the short-shorts she wore in the Summer are going to be just TOO short now! Maybe not in her opinion, but definitely in her father's! ;)

Thanks for this tip!! I just ordered $125 worth of t-shirts, cotton dresses, and shorts for our May trip! And I added a couple of cheapie things for myself of course!:rotfl: Bonus was we had some gift cards to burn so it cost nothing! :thumbsup2

If you end up with this storm be careful, it is coming very fine, very fast. Going to send the kids out in it soon! Didn't you just get a big storm down there not too long ago?:confused3

So glad to hear this, I bet by tomorrow the plows will be able to catch up with the roads. And being a Saturday, much less people out. Have a fun day inside!:goodvibes

Thank you, ladies!!!

Now, I think I may just do a little online shopping to pass this snowy day. You guys have inspired me :goodvibes . If we don't end up making the trip this weekend, I will be saving myself a good chunk of change in hotel, gas and meal costs, and if I can get some good deals online, then its win-win all around. That's my story anyway ;) . And if DH wants to protest (not that he would, God love him ), I'll just tell him it was all pigletto's idea ::yes:: .

Yeah, we've had our fair share of big storms this year! :goodvibes

Sounds like a plan!! I'll take the fall for the online shopping with your dh and your son can take the fall for my 8 year olds new cheese stick stretching habit:rotfl2:

Yay! 28 days and counting, but no snow day here - busses were cancelled but all schools are open, and DW (teacher) and I are working. But at about this time in 4 short weeks we'll be hopping in the car so we can be sitting in front of the school as soon as the bell rings.

This weekend's plan is to do the meal and grocery planning for our Orlando week, and perhaps a first test pack of the suitcases. We're trying to go carry-on only this time as WestJet changed our direct flight to one through Toronto with a short connection time. We want to have our bags with us so we can skoot through customs in TO.

bankr63: Are you flying out of Winnipeg? Sounds like we are in the same boat with Westjet flight change and transfer in TO down to 1 hour and 20 minutes. Considering carry on only, but not sure we can swing it.
