Hi everyone, We're off to to DLP in 15 days time :santa: and have all the hi vis vests, bulbs etc. But the snow chains??? We're driving there and I was wondering should I get some. I've read they are to be fitted in bad weather etc and I understand that, has anyone any experience of bad weather in Nov whilst driving to DLP? It's £60 out of the spending money to buy a set!! lol

I would save the spends and have a nice meal. I drove to DLP in very snowy weather but found French motorways fine - just drive accordingly.

Thank you for that Happy Days. I was thinking that was the best idea. I've drove in Europe many years ago for a living and the roads are well looked after in the winter.

Driven there for the past 5 years and never had need for snowchains

When we had the snow last year we found that the French roads were clearer than ours

As others say, have a nice meal with the money, and make sure you enjoy yourself!!

Technically snow chains are a requirement such that the Police can theoretically pull you over and stop you travelling further, but only if the conditions get so bad as to actually need them - if it's bright sunshine then they can't pull you over for not having snow chains in the boot.

Bearing in mind the fact that you're going in early November and are (presumably) just driving from the UK to DLP (a route using mainly major roads, none of which are at a particularly high altitude), I wouldn't worry about them as you're unlikely to see snow that bad on the roads :thumbsup2

i dont think you will have any problems at all, all the roads to dlp are not high altitude and well maintained

Thanks everyone, You've put mine and the wife's mind at rest. Yes we're off the ferry and straight there and back so no back roads. Really looking forward to the trip as the kids don't know :thumbsup2. They think we're going to the Isle of wight!!

The only time that I've needed snow chains in and around Paris was in Winter 1986 and we were lucky to have them as we went a lot to the Alps.

So if it gets that bad again this year I'd be very suprised :goodvibes
