Has anyone ever brought their own snorkel equipment to use on CC? :cool2: DH has a nice set and might prefer to use his own set. Does everyone need to wear a life vest? Anyone aware of any policy on this?
Thanks!

We brought our own snorkle equipment both times to CC. You do need to wear a life vest, life vest are free on CC & are the blow up kind. we picked them up where the life guards are.

I wouldn't bother bringing fins.

We used our snorkle gear on CC and other islands. Ya just never know how well that mouthpiece is cleaned ::yes:: :confused3

We also brought our own snorkel equipment, and if the lifeguards see you with your snorkel gear while you're in the water, they WILL make sure you have a vest on, even if you're just standing near the edge of the water. They will blow the whistle and make you get out of the water until you have a life vest on. I know this from personal experience. :earboy2: They will give you a life vest to use, for no charge.

So anytime anyone goes in the water no matter if snorkeling or not do thet have to wear a life jacket? Also wear is nicer to snorkel CC or Nassau? :teeth:

I think you only have to wear the vest if snorkeling-
but you don't have to blow it up.
We brought our own equipment. I would definately use fins.

CheapMom is right; you only need to have a vest on if you are snorkeling, or even just standing in the water with your snorkeling gear. At least, this was our experience. lol And she is right that they do not make you inflate the vest, just that you have it on while you are snorkeling.

Thank you! This info will make DH happy - he was not too happy about the idea of using a mouth piece that may or may not be clean.

CheapMom - you said to definitely use fins; is this because it makes swimming out to the snorkeling spot easier? We had our own masks and mouthpieces last time and we were glad we did although we didn't have fins -DH bought fins for this trip but I'm wondering how much of a hassle it is to have to lug them around (airports, etc.)

We always bring our own gear, including fins, but they are short ones. I have a giant duffle bag that I bring and it fits our gear with plenty of room to spare for all of the other things that I lug around with me on these adventures. We've brought our own gear on excursions, too, without any problems. :sunny:
