Snorkeling in Bahamas - worth it?

We are leaving next week on the Disney Dream and stopping in the Bahamas. We have a snorkeling adventure booked but I am nervous about and considering just staying on the ship. Some reviews have not been good on trip advisor type sites saying the sailboats are run down and the crews are less than ideal. Along with crowded boats and crowded water, I am rethinking this. We have 3 boys - ages 10, 12 and 15. We have snorkeled before in Cayman and it was amazing. Is it worth the expense? What would y'all recommend instead?

We snorkeled in Nassau back in 2013 and thought it was horrible and that was my first time. The coral reef looked dark and not healthly. We did GC back in 2016 and loved it !

It does depend where you go. I’ve snorkeled from Nassau 5 times maybe, never had a bad experience. Crew has always been pleasant. I’ve always taken a ship excursion, not always on DCL. Maybe the colors are not as vivid, but dying or ugly, no.
