Hi - do they allow the floats into the snorkeling area? Or do you just swim over to it? And can you swim there from the cabana beach area - is that further or closer than swimming from the family beach area?

No floats are allowed in the snorkeling area-I have never seen any. You can not reach the snorkeling lagoon from the cabana area. You have to leave there, go over to the family beach and enter the snorkeling lagoon from there.

There is a cast member (life guard or kids club) at the shoreline who is constantly re-directing people with floats to move out of snorkeling area over the ropes to the regular swim area. Our beach chairs were near the snorkel entrance, and I felt sorry for her :-)

You can get an inflatable snorkeling vest if you want for snorkeling. So you are technically floating. Just in a vest rather than a "float" if you want to snorkel but aren't the greatest swimmer.
