SNORING.... ugh make him stop...

:confused3 I thought maybe you were my neighbor posting :sad2: :sad2:

Sounds like my husband. And he just went for a sleep study two weeks ago...no apnea but they did not like what they heard so they want him to come back and do it again. He wont do....he says he wont wear the machine even if they say he does have it.

ARG!!

In the past 13 years I have:

1) Starting taking 1/2 tylenol pm a night, then up to a full one, now up to two

2) Started wearing foam ear plugs

3) Run a box fan to drown him out..

I dont know what else to do and turning the den into my bedroom is starting to look better and better...........:(

My DH snores when he first goes to sleep, but it doesn't bother me. My father was the worst, so I am used to it. I snow because I am over weight, I know I don't when I am lighter. My Pug snores worse than both of us, but he is so cute, you can't get mad at him!

Good luck finding a cause and a cure. My fathers brother also snored really badly, he had surgery to remove his uvula (the hangy down thing in the back of your throat) and he never snored after that.

vellamint-just noticed in your post that you take Tylenol PM on a regular basis. That can have serious effects on your liver and could even severely damage it.I never knew this until DH went to the Dr. and his liver enzymes were elevated and he had been taking Tylonol PM on a regular basis. He got an earful from the Dr. and never took it again!

LOL I do this too!

Thanks for all the advice everyone. Dh doesn't have sleep apnea. He just snores like you would not believe. He is snoring outrageously loud again, only this time in his chair. He has been having some health problems and is exhausted, but the snoring is driving me nuts!

Walgreen's sells a snoring spray that is wonderful! My husband snores very bad, it scared our daughter sometimes. DH says the Walgreen's stuff works wonders- the more expensive brand they sell tastes bad!
My husband uses about 10 sprays each night and we are one happy family! :goodvibes

ACK...dont tell me that....I specifically went to my doctor when I realized that there was no way that I could get any sleep anymore unless I took Tylenol PM. SPECIFICALLY went to ask him!! And he told me that it is fine!!! :confused3

Egads...I have a new doctor now and will certainly have a talk with him!!

Great, the next thing will be Lunesta or that other one........dont like that idea at all :(

The nosestips seems to work for my dad. He tried them several years ago.
And his snores would wake people on the other end of the house!

If there is no apnea, then try them. :)

I feel your pain. My dh snores so loud he could blow the cap off of a bottle of Coke in the fridge! It drives me crazy its so loud.

COULD BE A MEDICAL PROBLEM. MY HUSBAND DRIVES ME CRAZY SOMETIMES. HE WILL SNORE SO LOUD IT SOUNDS LIKE HE'S GONNA SUCK THE WALLS IN!!

My dh uses the cpap but it doesn't eleviate all the noise he makes. The cpap also makes alot of noise IMHO. I haven't had a decent nights sleep in 13 years.:sad2: I keep telling him I want my own room. He says, no way! I'm starting to think the sleep deprevation is his nefarious plot to slowly kill me:rotfl: .

I suggest that your hubby get a sleep study done to make sure that he does not have apnea. NC Beast was diagnosed 4 years ago----he snores loudly when he is not on his machine.

:thumbsup2 Excellent advice. My DH was diagnosed with sleep apnea about 6 months ago, the difference between him sleeping with the mask and without it is amazing. If he forgets to put it on or falls asleep without it I wake him up and make him wear it.

My DGF's DH suffers from sleep apnea. He went to a sleep study clinic at a local hospital and was diagnosed with SEVERE S.A.!! He was then fitted for an apparatus to wear to bed at night. He was FITTED for and ORDERED the apparatus but since he has had it (Feb) has worn it ONCE. WHY? He does NOT like it. DGF despite the fact, has not slept in years was so behind her DH going to the clinic and ordering the apparatus BUT now SUPPORTS him not wearing it. WHY? He does not like the STRAP! WHATTT? Simple, have the company come out and ADJUST the strap....easy enough..."we cannot fit it into our work schedules"...WHATTT?...He has horrible headaches in the morning, every morning, from lack of or poor sleep. DGF told me..."we know the headaches are directly related to the S.A."..."you do, HOW"..."because the one night he wore the apparatus, he had NO headache in the morning"...WHATTTT, I am not hearing this correctly...WHATTT???..."then wear the apparatus already"! UGH :furious:

MY QUESTION TO ALL OF YOU WHOSE DH OR DW SNORES...HOW exactly do you go on vacation and share a room??? :confused3 My DGF cannot go anywhere with her DH as she would NEVER get any SLEEP at all....NONE....!!! They go NO where. She now sleeps in a completely different room away from him as she works and she needs her sleep every night! :sad2:

Multi-bedroom condos are the answer for vacation travel. Or get adjoining hotel rooms.

Yes - or carry a very loud fan with you...................(or go to walmart and buy one when you get there!)

I have been trying to talk DH into a sleep study for years. Though his snoring is IMMENSELY annoying, a king-sized bed and a box fan have helped me get more rest. However, though I am by nature a non-violent person, there are still nights when I lay there listening to him snore and would give my left leg for a REALLY sharp stick!!

Sometimes though, his snoring sounds more like struggling for air, and that's when I get scared. I can't get him to understand how bad it is-- I feel like if he really knew, he'd be at a sleep study in two-seconds flat!

I take my CPAP everywhere. Even on the airplane to WDW. The security people knew exactly what it was and said they see them pretty frequently. One hotel we stayed in didn't have an outlet next to the bed (most of them do) and a call down to the front desk got me an extension cord.

If your DGF's DH does not like the straps, have him go back to the sleep doctor or a durable medical company in your area. There are MANY different types of straps/masks/etc. I will be honest, it took about 2 weeks to really 'get used to it' - but it's literally a life changing device for me. But it's second nature now, even when I need to jump up to get a crying child. It slips off and on just like shoes now.

My DW says I still make a little noise too. My dad also went in and was tested and about a year later had to go back in because he was still snoring/etc through the mask and they adjusted his settings. Your DH may need to go back in to check the levels of the machine. He can bring his machine in and they can set it after he re-tests.

Does your DH have an older machine? You may want to talk to the dr and see if there is a machine that may be more silent. I'd be certain that the more you spend the quieter it would be. I think I'd prefer that to having my wife have to sleep in a different room. :) DW says she'll take the noise of my machine over the snoring any day.
