People keep asking me if I'd do it again - and I say (vehemently), YES!!
If you didn't see my previous posts on the subject, let me bring you up to date.
I had the following surgery on 4/10/03:
UPPP - snoring surgery, this is where they cut out your uvula (that thing that hangs down the middle in the back of the roof of your mouth), the surrounding tissue, and "build" you a new (higher) uvula out of the remaining soft tissue.
Also had done:
Tonsillectomy (speaks for itself)
Deviated Septum fixed (ditto)
Turbinates (something to do with these "sacs" in your sinuses, they got rid of some of mine, or shaved them)
I was in complete agony for the first two weeks - there just weren't enough pain killers on the planet. I thought I'd die for sure.
After two weeks, I was able to eat some solid foods again. Which was a real blessing, since living on jello & water for 2 weeks.
Here it is, a month after surgery, and I'm almost normal. Throat still feels a bit funny, like there's a piece of peanut shell stuck in the back of my throat, but otherwise fine and I can eat anything I please.
Oh, and I don't snore anymore, my nails grew almost an INCH and are really strong (from all the jello, I guess), and lost 19 pounds, so YEAH! I'd do it over again. I never thought I'd say that...I must be "forgetting" the pain (like women after childbirth who get preggers again).
Yay Me!!!
