SNL 50th Should Be Epic!

I just went to record it today and it said "Jelly Roll performs". Is that by chance the famous jazz pianist? DS, who majored in Jazz studies, regaled me with stories and he me know the irony of a place like Disney using his name on a place (the piano bar) when he didn't act very "Disney-like".
I suspect Disney probably doesn't know much about Jelly Roll Morton, especially the slang meaning of his chosen nickname"Jelly Roll".lol

College Football all day culminating with Alabama v. Georgia immediately followed by the SNL Season Premiere with most likely an all-timer Trump/Kamala Cold Open!

AIN'T IT GOOD TO BE ALIVE AND LIVE IN THE USA!!!!

I laughed most at Weekend Update as usual. Seemed like the whole episode was trying to cram in a Greatest Hits of all the meme-worthy news that happened over the past few weeks.

Next episodes should be better.

I am looking forward to seeing how many former Cast from the 50 years will make cameo appearances.

We knew we would get Maya tonight, but great to see Dana coming back as well!

And also an awesome nod to the past by having Laraine Newman's daughter make a brief appearance on the show.

I'm a huge SNL fan and have been for most of their 50 years. Here was my take:

The Cold Open was spot on....best part of the whole show!

I've always enjoyed Jean Smart's acting but thought SNL could have done soooo much better in their 50th opener. I didn't think her skits were very funny and she had such an awesome cast around her. :(

I guess my expectations for tonight's show was much higher but then they do have the whole 50th year to go........

Bring on Nate Bargatze!! :thumbsup2

I didn't love the episode, but I did enjoy seeing Dana Carvey on as Biden and Jim Gaffigan as Waltz.

Yes; that's what I liked.....the satire on everyone. :thumbsup2
Of course they had four months of the campaign to draw on, and write about. Can they keep the quality up between now and the election.

Unfortunately thought last night's show was a little weak.

Looking for a big show this week with Ariana and Stevie.
Opening was well written and executed, but I suspect Dana Carvey went roque at the end of the bit. But at my age, the guest hosts and musical acts are not aimed at me, so won't comment on those choices.

Wow! I thought there was a precipitous drop-off. Oh well, horses for courses:)

I thought Jean Smart was a terrible host and the skits she was in were so so. Nate Bargatze has been on before and did a much better job. The week one cold opening was better that the week 2.

Yeah, it wasn't a great episode, but Bargatze was funny for sure. Commedians alsyas give the best monologues - it's what they do!

I liked the week 1 cold open better than week 2, but both were funny and Dana Carvey with the ice cream was a good laugh. I also thought the golf tournament and water park were really funny.
