SNIPER suspect arrested??

Chief Moose took the podium briefly this morning after police began searching the van.

"The message that needs to be delivered is that we are going to respond to a message that we have received...We are preparing a response at this time."

It appears as if a connection has been made through the number mentioned yesterday. There has been no confirmation as yet that the payphone is related to that number.

They're talking about how police are setting up the scene and how it indicates that there was more going on or they believe would have gone on, than what happened.

I get the feeling that this is NOT the van that was used. This van had several stickers on the back - one in the upper left corner of the window, one in the lower left corner (both look like Marine stickers). This would have been easy to identify by witnesses. Maybe not what type of stickers they are but that there is something out of the ordinary on the windows

Okay, so indulging in a little wild conspiracy theory here--could it be the guy at the phone gave the message, some sort of threat, though he's not the sniper, just part of this "something larger". Chief Moose responded that they have received the message and are preparing a response--they're considering the terms of the threat or negotiation.

The "sniper" is playing everyone involved I think. He's using the Media as pawns and manipulating everything.

This is of course MHO and I am nothing but a sad observer

Okay, for anyone not watching CNN, this is what they were just saying--apparently someone called the tip hotline after the Saturday shooting to tell them to look for a note at the Ponderosa. They went, found the note, traced the call back to a pay phone near the one today in that area. They had several pay phone locations staked out today. They were speculating on CNN that if the note included some demand for money, this may indicate a copycat situation--again, just speculation--or a situation where it was the sniper who did the shooting and completely unrelated people who left the not trying to get money.

News conference at 1:00pm was a disappointment. I guess it was held to note that balistic evidence has proven this latest shooting to be linked to the others BUT I was hoping for more info on the two men detained this morning.

Got off work at 1:00 and had heard about this around 12 noon. Wonder if it is him/them or not?? I wonder if the note was left by the "accomplice" maybe making a deal that he wants out of this situation. Maybe HE was the one that "set UP" the Sniper so to speak?

Thats what I think Poohbear 123. I think the persons they have in custody know something, whether that means the are accomplices, or just people who know something about who the sniper is or where he might be.

Especially since Chief Moose did not come out for his scheduled press conference where he was supposed to have had a response to the person who left the message. Makes me think he doesn't need to, since that person is in custody.

I did notice one thing in particular today that leads me to believe today's arrest is definitely tied to the sniper. The witnesses at the Manassas shooting claimed to see a white Dodge caravan with a roof rack and VA temporary tags. That is the exact vehicle that I saw on the live coverage today - right down to the temporary tags. This vehicle HAS to be in some way connected.

I live very close to the Exxon station, I have been to that station, and my school is very close in proximity to that station. The school that the mom called from to tell the police that she saw them was Hermatige High School. I go to Tucker, and that's also very close.

I'm staying indoors today, we got school canceled today.

What color was the Sticker on the back of the van?? My DH said it looked green/white/red?? Isn't that colors for a specific Country?? If so, which one?

The stickers are for the Car Tax. Each year has a differnt color.

I'm not too familiar with car tax & county stickers in the Richmond area, but in Northern VA, these stickers are required on the front windshield, not the back. Also, I wouldn't expect any stickers on the vehicle to have to much bearing on the nationality of the suspects since the vehicle DOES have temporary tags. Those stickers may be from the previous owner.
