Sneaking alcohol onto DCL - We need to learn how

I was hoping we could discuss ways to circumnavigate a rule made by a greedy corporate entity...

Oh good lord, honey... Disney is a for-profit, publicly traded company. Wanting to up their profit doesn't make them "greedy", it makes them smart businessmen. They are also matching what is pretty much the industry standard, after previously having a very, very lax policy. If you want to break the rules, by all means, I don't care because it doesn't affect me... But don't try to make yourself seem like some kind of Robin Hood of Booze while you do it.

I don't begrudge Disney for trying to make money, and I don't begrudge anybody that's trying to save some.

Now if we could just get Disney to get the fares they charge to industry standard--everyone would have plenty to spend on alcohol and not have to plot how to get it on the ship!

As tempting as it is to try this, we won't do it. We will however use the fact that the DCL difference is either gone or minuscule to impact whether we rebook or not onboard. It will take a deal like we got this year to get us back on.

Also the fact that the will be zero alcohol flowing through the veins means we will be clear headed to make the go no go decision lmao.

One thing we have done though is pack plastic minis in a toiletries bag in our suitcases, and it has worked well and never been confiscated. If you can find a way to shield it a bit more you might be good to go.

Anyways, most publicly traded companies are greedy, I didn't need to qualify them with it, it just helped make my point. I take that back, all publicly traded companies are greedy and so are their shareholders. The ability to always increase share prices is not sustainable, yet the expectation is there.

And please, refrain from telling others what to do.

As to the booze thing, DCL, brought this all on theirselves by cutting a favorite perk and.repeating thier past error and doing it on short notice.

What we told friends about our experience with Alcohol on our 7 day Fantasy cruise:

1) We bought a litre (Canadian of rum for me at duty free - opened it at WDW and used it there for our 3 days pre-cruise, then we were able to close the bottle and bring the rest on board with us - so civilized!

2) I would put some rum in a mickey mug (thanks wdw magic your way plan!) before heading up on deck, fill it at the pop machine and have a great time. Usually did that two or three times per day.

3) We bought the DCL beer mug for my wife, it was great, and also she tried most of the drinks of the day as they were reasonably priced and we didn't feel we were being ripped off.

4) Two other members of our extended family bought wine packages for dinner and we all shared - great time!

5) At the end of the cruise we felt like we had really enjoy ourselves, spent money on alcohol to be sure but miraculously didn't feel ripped off on an $8,000 trip AND didn't feel "nickel and dimed" as my parents did on a RC transatlantic.

Now my fear would be that not only will carry on spirits be put into the "vault" with VHS copies of The Little Mermaid forever, but the previously reasonable prices for drinks on board will start to creep upwards. I believe scientifically this is known as the "movie theatre phenomenon" or "We're the only legal food vendor within 10 miles (16 kilometres) - so yes our hot dogs are $9."

P.S. : The other thing we told friends, for what it's worth in our one 7 day experience, never saw a soul who appeared even mildly inebriated. Maybe Goofy - but he kinda stumbles all the time.

I just got one kid graduated from HS and dropped her off at college last week, another one starting his senior year in HS, started a new business, we're supposed to move next summer so getting a house ready/sold and finding another four states away...leaves me without much time for cruise boards. I missed our lively debates!

As for DCL - I don't like HOW they did it but we all know WHY they did it. Then again, we just took a cruise in June and my next cruise is 9 days visiting St Lucia, St Kitts, Barbados and St Maarten so I don't have time/money to book another one anyway. Concern for what DCL does or does not do will have to wait another year. Perhaps they'll change more things by then, it seems to be the norm with these cruise lines right now.

Maybe bc we like the way things were before and feel cheated. Disney cruises are double the price of a regular cruise. I know they are a company and out to make money but Disney had the dream of making all kids happy. Their cruises and parks prices raise yearly, how are the less fortunate kids able to enjoy the DREAM. Just my on opinion which I have the right to have and express.

You never know who those people with less then 5,000 are? If you only knew? Now I can report back to the beards exactly what kind of people hang out on these boards. I always knew bullies hung out in message boards, you just confirmed it. And for the rest of you who applaud this behavior shame on you.

I think that person was kidding. If you look at their post count it speaks volumes. There are some long-time prolific posters who sometimes give off airs. KWIM?

I'm a pretty talky person and I'm not even close. Staple my lips shut. Or my fingers together. LOL!
