Sneaking alcohol into MK

I'm confused. Are we drinking dogs now? How drunk do you have to be to even try that???

I thought we'd moved onto drunk service animals? :rolleyes1

As a side note off of the side note, almost anyone can get their dogs "licensed" as service animals off the internet anymore. Pay the fee, list a condition and they send you a card and you can just buy a vest for the dog if you wish. It's a shame that even this is being abused for those that really need a service animal. Yes there are dogs that sense seizures or diabetic episodes or things like that and other dogs that are licensed for anxiety and other public type of disorders and they do a wonderful job. I highly doubt a barking yorkie in a stroller was a real service dog though. Those dogs are usually trained to be seen and never heard if they are an actual service dog. I would venture to guess this dog was more from the internet license type of service animal.

Not to take this thread even in another direction, I don't even think you have to go that far. You just say this is a service animal.

Note: This post is in no way is a reflection on people who need service animals.

I was thinking that too.

I could never pass my Doxiepin off as a service dog because of that... Especially if she's been drinking... :rolleyes1

But, if you cannot spend a day at the Magic Kingdom w/o drinking you have a problem and need to seek help.

<snark>Thanks, Dr Temperance, for your medical opinion... :rolleyes1 </snark>

How about the occasional visitor who wants to ride Buzz with a little buzz?

As someone said upthread, what happens to him depends on him. Upon discovery of the flask, Security will give your friend the option of returning the flask to the car (or resort, if you didn't drive and are on site) or they will have him empty it at the front gate. They're not likely to toss the flask unless your friend says, "Never mind -- just toss it." My suggestion would be to park as far in the back of the netherlands of the parking lot as possible, so that when he chooses to return the flask to the car it takes him a long looooooong time.

On the chance that the flask is not discovered during bag check, you may want to mention to your friend that there are undercover security CMs all over property. And should one of them see him swigging from his flask inside the park, it would not necessarily lead to him being kicked out (again ... that's up to him), but it will definitely impact his day since he'd at the very least get the "lecture" and be asked to dump the flask.

Honestly? I'd tell him that he'll be on his own on "flask day", and that if he wants to join the rest of you as you tour MK, then the flask stays at home.

It'd actually be pretty easy. An airline bottle of liquor would be pretty easy to pocket and hide. Last time I checked, Security didn't do pat-downs.

I didn't see anywhere that the OP said the friend couldn't manage to spend a day at the MK and not have a drink, only that the friend was going to sneak in a flask. Two totally different things! Lots of people try to sneak liquor into the MK -- mostly because they know its a 'dry' park and they want to see if they can. It's more about the sneaking and the "doing something that is forbidden" thing than it is about being an alcoholic. I've only ever seen one guy actually succeed. He had brought in a bottle of Sprite that was heavily spiked with either gin or vodka. According to his friend, he'd been paranoid all day about getting caught, so instead of just carrying it around all day as planned (just to prove that you could bring alcohol into the park and not get caught), he drank it almost as soon as they got past bag check. First ride that day? Teacups. How do I know? I was working Custodial. :scared1:

:earsboy:

You are very wrong.......anyone who is sneaking in the booze has a drinking problem.......your just giving him a free pass:scared1: by saying hes just playing a childs game of sneaking it in.......it is not helping him in the least

This is not worth the time typing.....

I only put it into cups while in the restroom and never get drunk.

Unfortunately many folks feel the need to get really stupid when they drink so most should never attempt such a thing.[/QUOTE]

You really don't see the problem here?..........your drinking/pouring/hiding in a BATHROOM...you don't see that as either a big problem in drinking or a very childish one!

Dam Sir.....sober up or Grow UP!

Typical DIS. There is NO middle ground. You are either a 100% sober non-drinker, OR, you are an alcoholic that needs professional help.

Sheeeeeeesh.......

Typical aloholic reaction...I cant spent a day without drinking ......so everyone else is wrong in following a tradition in the MK .........no drinking.

I can drink everywhere else in WDW..........but everyone else is wrong in saying you can't drink in MK.

Sheeeeeeeesssssssh.......

PS I do enjoy a drink or 2 or 3 in the other parts of WDW, so don't justife your drinking problem by saying anyone against drinking in the MK, isn't a drinker!

OMG. popcorn:: While I don't condone this in any way I just LOVE how wanting to have a drink on vacation constitutes a drinking problem :rotfl: as some posted above...

If the OP's friend is wanting a drink or two while at MK there are some great bars/lounges in the monorail resorts surrounding MK...perhaps a lunch at Kona cafe with a Lapu Lapu?

I am a person who isn't quite enchanted with Magic Kingdom. I would LOVE if beer was sold there just so I can tolerate it. HOWEVER -

That's not the rules as of right now and I don't see where it will ever change I support that. I like that Magic Kingdom can be for families without having to see beer or wine being right in front of them. I go to Disney World on my vacation and some of that means cocktail time and so be it. HOWEVER, it's not when I'm at Magic Kingdom.

You choose to go to Magic Kingdom, you choose to go alcohol free. Simple as that.

If your friend needs something, have him take the monorail over to Epcot (ala Dan Conner) and you will meet with him later.

Bad idea to sneak booze into the MK - it is against the rules.

I don't really understand some on this thread trying to justify breaking this simple rule. :confused3

Hang out on the Dis long enough and you will see people can justify breaking any rule. Not only that, they will mock and belittle those people who do follow the rules. It is pretty sad actually.:sad2:

What's wrong with doings things the old fashioned way and getting hammered drinking around the world in Epcot then hopping on the monorail? :confused3

I just don't get why someone would need to break a rule when they could just hop on the resort monorail and be at a bar in less than 5 minutes. Or get your drink on on the way to MK(if you're driving). Maybe it's the thrill of the possibility of getting caught?

As for mixing a drink in the bathroom....where is the puking smiley?

I WANT to get it on with DH while riding the Carrousel. Can someone help me get away with that?? No, I'm not an addict, I just don't want to wait until I get back to the hotel. it's a LONG bus ride.

It's MY vacation!!!

I know!

I also just don't get it. Why do you WANT alcohol so badly that you need to break the rules? It just seems to strange to me.

The answer to all of this is simple: bong hits. :upsidedow

:lmao:

I'm still trying to figure out why there are 8 pages to this thread. OP, it appears folks here think your buddy is a raging alcoholic. Don't sweat it.

Just let him do what he's going to do, like any other adult. If they stop him at bag check, just keep on walking and wait for him at the side.

If he gets the booze in and is inappropriate around your daughter, take him on space mountain and ditch him in the gift shop. Or take the simple route and tell him he doesn't need to be around your child while he's drinking.
