Sneakin' snacks?

I've read in the UG to DL that the CMs at the gate do not really enforce the "no-bringing in food/ drinks" rule. True?

We're thinking of packing a few of those sealed (snack-size) packages of Nilla Wafers, Teddy Grahams, etc. and also a few of those Juicy Juice-kinds of juice boxes w/ straws for the kids. Big reason, of course, to save money by not buying snacks in DL.

1.) Will they let us do this w/ no problems?

2.) What other kinds of foods/ drinks will they let us bring in (including our own bottled water)-- open or not?

3.) Are sippy cups w/ milk, water, etc. already in them okay to bring in?

Thanks for any help/ observations!

In 2001, my DH brought in a dozen krispy kreme donuts. At the time, we didn't have any KKs near us at home, and we were meeting up with my parents, bro & his family, and some other relatives. They let us in, and with the flat box, he couldn't really hide it. I've always brought bottles water and snacks like granola bars in my backpack, and I haven't had a problem with that either.

1) Yes

2) Any food. Especially if you have kids they are much more flexible.

3) I do not know about liquids, but I would assume they would be fine.

We have never had any issues with bringing in food - we always have snacks, and juice cups and unopened water bottles that are in either the stroller or diaper bag and we have never had any issues. They made our friend finish her glass bottle of starbucks. Last time EE was reallly early, and we had bagels and cream cheese that we took through security and ate in line, and then once you are past security they do not recheck you at the actual entrance gate.

No glass, no rolling/big coolers and if you bring in meals please don't take up space at the tables of restaurants (coke corner, etc...).

I bring in a backpack full of snack food on a regular basis. No one says anything.

We brought 6 bottles of water, Flavored drink packets, 6 Danishes, 6 Granola Bars and 10 gummy fruit packets. Never a word was said

When we go to Disneyland (Dad, Mom, and 3 kids), we take in two backpacks. One contains Subway sandwiches, Capri-sun drinks, and chips. (There is a Subway Sandwich shop on Harbor about a half mile from Disneyland that opens around 7:00 a.m.; We freeze the Capri Suns in the fridge in our hotel room. They keep the sandwiches cool until we're ready for a midafternoon lunch.)

The other backpack is full of water bottles, granola bars, crackers, other snacks, and rain ponchos. They always check our back packs at the entrance and welcome us to the park. We head first thing to the lockers on main street where we keep the backpacks. We stop by periodically during the day and get whatever we need from the backpacks. We spend about $7.00 on the locker but save a ton of money each day we're there.

Everyone has already pretty much answered- but I'll add- no they dont care if your water is open or if there is something in your sippy cups. Sometimes they do get a little weird about plastic tupperware type containers, and you cant bring in a regular cooler. You can, however, bring in a small, soft side cooler. Like a 6 pack type that is about as big as a purse.

We always take food. The only time I've every seen a cast member say no to bringing in food was a family bringing in a hard cooler. If you put a few drinks and snacks in a soft cooler with blue ice, you should be fine.

There is no need to sneak - DL has always allowed you to bring your own food - they have even built a picnic area for you to enjoy. And they announce it on most tram rides (if the recording is working). With that said - the large coolers etc are not allowed - but bringing in your own food in a bag or backback has always been allowed.

You may eat your food anywhere - you don't have to go to the picnic area.

Another thing about disneyland is the security check you go through is the same security check you go through just to pass through from the Hotels onHarbot to DownTown Disney. Security does not know who is going into a park or dowtown disney.

No one knows what you carry in to the park. I have seen almost everything there and Im sure officially its not ok. I would bring your drinks and snacks and not worry about it.

Your bags are not searched to go to DTD. The security check is to get into the promanade area between DL and DCA.

I think the previous poster was referring to the fact that to get to DTD from the hotels on Harbor, most people will go through the promenade instead of going around the whole block.

We were there last week and had no problems bringing in food.

As far as other things to bring....we will frequently freeze go gurts and bring them in. I hate that there's so little fruit and veggies, so I'll frequently bring fruit cups/apple sauce cups and carrotts (little one demands ranch as well, so I'm sure we'll have that, too!). Granola bars. Pringles individual chips work well, they're hard sided so they don't get mangled. I purchase bottles of mt. dw and bring them in on my water bottle lanyard/string, never been asked. It's the only way I can get Mt. Dew at the parks! I haven't brought them before, but I was going to try the uncrustables this next time. DS1 likes beef jerkey. And, we always bring gum, can't buy that in the parks.

We had to go through security everytime we wanted to go to Downtown disney. Then when we was done shopping we went through it again to get back to the hotel. My point is the security is to enter the esplanade not the parks there.

OK - the seurity is to get into the promanade between the 2 parks - not to get into DTD per say. If you are using the promonade to pass through to Harbor Blvd - yes you go through security to get into the promonade - but not to get into DTD. You can freely enter DTD from other entrances and not ever pass through security.

We just got back from DL and we brought a little bag of bottled waters and fruit. The CM's looked in the bag during the security check and didn't say anything. I'm sure it's fine.

This isn't entirely true. Disneyland's official policy is:
Can I bring food into Disneyland® Park or Disney's California Adventure® Park?
With the exception of food items for Guests with specific dietary restrictions, food or beverage items are not permitted into either of the Disneyland® Resort theme parks.

Now that being said they don't normally stop you from bringing in food or drink, unless it is a huge cooler full. They even have paper cups at the DCA entrance from the GC so that people who buy glass bottled drinks (like from whitewater (at least they hope)) can transfer them to cups and bring them into the park. So in general you don't have a problem, though I have seen people be stopped.

Also the announcement on the tram states something to the effect that you must use the picnic tables for outside food and drink.
