Sneakers with wheels

Thanks to everyone for the advice. :thumbsup2

I think we will go the route of not getting the heeleys. I was already a bit concerned about possible injuries since most of the kids do not use kneepads or elbowpads as they should with regular skates.

We got the kids the rented double strollers last July when they were 5 and 7. With both in there, it was a tight squeeze. There was a lot of jockying for space and "she is on my side" :furious: Now that they are 6 amd 8, they would definitely not both fit. We plan to take it easy this trip and break the day up with trips back to BCV and the pool (Stormalong Bay) pirate: So we won't be setting a furious pace for them. I will also likely do some shoulder carrying for my 6 year old. She really likes that. :yay:

BTW My wife and I bought "crocs" today to use at the beach (HH), pool (BCV) and the water parks (TL & BB).

Not sure about policy...but I saw many a pair in use. Kids whizzing by on one heel. Most of them looked very uncomfortable and hot... and about 2" too tall.

I think you would be looking at trouble

If you do a search on heely's there have been few threads on the subject.

Here's one with some interesting info:

And here's a link to a newsletter that talks about the effect they have on the body: http://www.chiropractic-sports.com/csi-pdf-files/Fall_04.pdf

Plus, anytime you have wheels under your feet, shouldn't a helmet be on your head?

We have seen them a number of times at WDW. Each time a CM has approached the parent and told them they are not allowed. These are Heelys.

Yes, me too. We were unaware of the rule, and we got spoken to at MGM. Cast member said that they were a bit more tolerant there, but at MK, they will literally wait and watch while you pop your wheels out, security will enforce. That is a quote...

A number of CMs have posted in the past that they are considered roller skates and are not allowed in the parks. They posted that CMs are supposed to stop people they see using them.

We saw some kids in the airport using them and they were a hazard to other people as they sort of slid in and out between people.

Another favorite for the kids is for their parents to drag the kids behind them. I would rather push a stroller than drag a 6 year old. Personally, it bugs me when I see kids on them in crowds. I don't think they can control themselves properly on them and I have seen more than one near accident. Plus, how many of us allow our kids to rollerblade without wrist guards and helmets? IMO, the Heelies are the same thing.
