I am compiling a list of the "best" driving routes from our hotel, Wyndam Orlando Resort, to WDW. I understand the hotel is located just south of Sand Lake on International Drive.

1. How difficult is it to take I-Drive south from the Wyndam?

2. What about avoiding the I-4 all together. What is the best route without taking the highway?

Your recommendations are appreciated. :flower:

I tried both - believe me I4 is the better route.

that part of ID is always crowded - lots and lots of traffic.

but you can get to WDW using ID - it take about 3 times longer than I4.

The intersection of Sandlake and I-drive will most likely fail during AM peak hours for westbound movements and you will have to sit through 2 signal cycles. Be prepared upon crossing I-drive to be in the right lane and proceed under the overpass on the right side of the raised concrete median and your signage will be for I-4 West (Tampa).

Since the intersection of Sand Lake and I-Drive is so terrible. What if I turned East onto Sand Lake from I-Drive then went South on Universal Blvd. to Beeline Exp. and entered I-4 on that interchange.

Is it easier to East onto Sand Lake from I-Dive than West toward I-4?

I know....I'm stuck in the thick of it, but if we could avoid some of the bottlenecks it would save on the Tylenol, you know.

no the traffic is pretty bad in the entire area.

besides you are only 2 blocks from I4 - I think that is the best bid.

I asked a very similar question of the valets at Peabody and they huddled and still suggested the Sandlake and I-4 interchange.

Thanks for the information. Wish me luck! Maybe we will get lucky....probably not. But at least we will not be surprised.
