I know they snap photos of you on these rides but I know people of today have cell phones and can easily take a photo of the screen shot with their devices. But I was thinking, isn't doing that like stealing or no? Can you do this or will a CM get mad at you and throw you out?

Lol, no, it's fine. I do it all the time. And I see a lot of other people doing it too. No one ever says anything.

It's not discouraged because the photo quality is completely poor, compared to what you get if you purchased the picture. Also, taking a picture of your image is a good way to remember the photo number, in case you want to order it later that day.

Every year, DH and I buy our ToT picture. We have pics going back to our first ride ~ eight years ago! It's fun to see my hair length change over the years. lol Anyhow, we ride about 4-5 times, taking pictures of each ride shot as we go, and at the end review them all to see which one we want to order.

We take a picture of the screen because we like to get the photo pass plus and we are not always all together. You can go back within 24 hours and load your photo if you have the # from the picture onto you PPP....

I think we just discussed this the other day, and while TECHNICALLY, it violates copyright laws to do so, in my opinion it isn't stealing in the slightest. Taking a picture of an attraction poster is no different.

When we were there for the recent race weekend, on one day Screamin' was testing out something new. It was a digital version sent to you for 99 cents! We did this, and it was well worth it. There was a crackly a line of people doing it, though at least one of them had only noticed it because I was talking to myself about how cool it was while waiting for DH and DS to ride. Despite pretty big signs all around the monitors, people weren't noticing the test option.

Next day the test wasn't happening.

I hope they implement it!!!

I heard it was $1.99, went to check it out and it was $4.99 when I got there. I would not spend $4.99, but $1.99 is not an automatic no from me. $0.99 would be awesome.

It was $.99 over Labor Day weekend. I bought our Splash Mountain pic, and was able to fwd it to my niece, and post on FB.

They tested it at different price points for 2 weeks. At one point it was even free. Let's just hope more people paid $0.99 than $4.99.

I've used PP+ both times we went so never worried about it but there are always people snapping pics with their cell phones.

When we went to Universal in July I got totally chewed out for doing it after a ride (I think it was Jurassic park) - my bad for not reading any of the posted signs that said you couldn't do that (my daughter was so embarrassed):confused3

Disney seems to be one of the only parks that not only allows you to do this but they encourage it as well so that you have the photo number in case you want to purchase the photo.

Six Flags will not allow you to do this (unless they don't notice) and and as a previous poster stated, neither will Universal Studios.

Agreed.

Let's hope they used the exact same signage for all price points, so there was equal footing for all. Because there were very few people noticing the 99 cents while milling around taking pictures of the screens until I started talking about it!

As a lawyer, I disagree that it "technicaly violates copyright law." There are various reasons I don't think it does, from fair use to taking a photo of something visable in public, but I dont think a full on legal analysis is warranted.

But I dont think a full on legal analysis would be interesting to I most readers. It however would probably be permissible for a park to prohibit it on its private property - but a violation would still not fall under copyright law.

I was thinking the same thing. Just as a photog though. :thumbsup2
