Snake in Resort Room?

So I guess now is not a good time to remind everyone that my son was bitten by a water moccasin at Disney:scared1:

I remember you posting this before. When we were down in Nov. I was constantly on snake patrol (to the point where my husband made fun of me). So who's path did a snake slither across...you guessed it...mine:eek:

I hate snakes!!!!

Stayed at Pop a couple years ago and a little ole black snack was slithering across the walkway for the 50's on way to bus stop.....being from Ky, yes I've seen snakes before. No I do NOT like them and am wondering too why in the world I read through this entire thread. BTW...it would completely freak me out if I saw a gator at Splash Mtn. or anywhere else!:scared1:

Oh me too. However, there's no chance of being in your room and unexpectedly finding a gator under your bed covers.. or above your curtains! :rotfl2:

It's the snakes that worry me. Venomous AND small enough to hide! :scared1:

Ok...put that way....I will be paranoid now :).

LOL Sorry! But really, that's a worry I have. And I'll be at WDW a week from tomorrow, as the ONLY adult. It's just going to be me and my DS, who is six and has autism. I'll be tearing apart the room, looking for snakes and critters! Yikes!

May of last year my little guy was bitten by a water moccasin at CBR after bending down to pick up a toy he dropped in the landscaping. He spent 3 days in intensive care and received 12 vials of antivenin. Thankfully he is ok and only complains of stiffness in his fingers when he has a lot of writing to do for school, but don't they all;) Did I mention we had only been at Disney for 2 hours when this happened. Not the best way to start a trip.

Kim, I can so relate. We are constantly on the lookout also, to the point of the absurd. Better safe than sorry. I have always hated snakes and now even more so.

OMG that is a horrific thing to happen!! I cant imagine anything worse, not to be a morbid person but he could have died if you didnt see it happen or get to him quick enough...but Im sure you know all that. Your little boy was very lucky (if you know what I mean). We are heading for CBR in May and will most definitly be on the lookout now. For some reason I foolishly just assume nothing like that will happen but it is Florida and CBR is on a lake so go figure.
Im soo sorry this happend to your little boy. Sending him hugs from Texas.

I've always heard that the only good snake is a dead snake!

(And the only good mouse is on Disney's payroll)

My family and I were walking through EPCOT two years ago and a snake slithered in front of us while walking in the countries...it was quite crowded...a girls, probabley in her a 20's and not a cast member, went over picked it up and threw it over the fence towards the water...everyone cheered.:cheer2:

When we stayed at Wilderness Lodge, we saw many small snakes, that were not scarey...and I hate snakes.

The only animal we ever had in our room was a bird that flew in when one of my children left the deck door open. it eventually flew out.:goodvibes

gosh! I get chills up my spine over this. I dont know what it is about snakes!!! I grew up in the fields of North Carolina and saw more snakes and snake bites then I'd ever care to for the rest of my life I know they are SUPPOSE to be more scared of you then you are of them, but #1 - I doubt it and #2 with MY luck, I'd get the renagade snake trying to impress some girl snake who would get the thrill out of showing me who's the bigger scairdy cat.. me thats who. BTW, I called POP and told them I don't care what room or what view, I want on the highest floor (I didn't tell them about the snake thoughts though, I do have some dignty to try & retain.)

I don't want to eridicate the earth of snakes or anything like that, I just don't want to worry about them in my ROOM. I'll stay out of thier nest/den whatever thier house is called, and they stay out of my room and we can all co-exist just fine. I really do think I'd faint if I pulled back the covers to see a snake in my bed though.

:rotfl::rotfl2::eek:

We had a duck follow us into our room, and a bunny on our porch, but no snakes! We never even saw any, and I looked all over for them because I'm afraid of them.
This was at Wilderness Lodge.

:thumbsup2I am with you there all the way . They stay away from me, I will stay away from them......as afr as finding one curled under my cover I would have a heart attack:scared1: We will be on ground level at BCV and I am very worried about this . I am going to drive my DH nuts telling him to make sure the door is shut tightly. A Vet friend of mine said that when they do get in they like to slide about alongside the base boards , not just make a mad dash across the floor. I will be doing a room inspection every night:rolleyes1

I read this thread last year (2009) before going on our Sept 2009 trip.

I was on snake patrol the entire time there. Seriously. The entire time.

And, on our second to last day, what crawled right in front of me on a path at POP?

yep, a gross black snake! I FREAKED THE HECK OUT and ran alllll the way back to our room.

Hahahaha! Yes, because of this thread, I took ALL the covers off of the beds each night before getting in them, to do a "snake check" LOL!

I looked behind everything and under everything too! Including the curtains!

My trip, thankfully, was snake-free.

Well, now that I opened this thread I will definitely be checking in May under everyone's beds every night... and in the bathroom, under the curtains, etc.

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! I can take insects, bees, creepy-crawlies but not a snake!

OMG if I saw one in our room I would faint!
The funny thing is, I used to live in Guam and before I moved there, all I heard about were how the island was COVERED with snakes. In my two years living there, I did not see ONE snake!
I hate snakes!!!! :scared1:
