Snacks you take with you on an excursion

Cozumel is one of those ports. We’ve been there twice and both times, a dog was sniffing every bag looking for food. We were told by our Concierge host that even prepackaged food is not allowed off the ship there.
When was the last time you were there? We have been twice with the most recent in December. We were told we can take packaged food off and we did with never a problem. Was this a change for this year?

Last March and in 2014. Both times, we were told that no food of any kind could go off. Maybe the hosts were mistaken ?

We are doing the beach stuff only. My grandkids ont eat enough to justify the cost of the buffet. Will bring bottle water. Will do the uncrustables, cheese and chips. That should hold them for awhile.

Is there a DCL excursion with Playa Mia beach only?
I thought the only one they had was the package that included buffet and drinks?
I don't expect the food to be that appetizing and we aren't huge eaters after a big breakfast, but how are the drinks at Playa Mia? (The domestics are included in the package.)

I think you can do this excursion on your own with different options.
Drinks were ok. Hubby stuck with beer and I had some frozen drinks like pina coladas (served by the pool, included with the package as well).

Thanks for the info!
I don't know that we would do this excursion on our own. I kinda like the added insurance of booking through DCL, just in case something happens.
Has anyone done Playa Mia on their own and have any tips?

I'm with you on that one. I like that security, even if it doesn't always mean the boat remains, but to have contact with the ship is a good thing. I think the only time I might make an exception to that rule would be if we were to go back to the UK (where we're originally from) for a visit, and decided to do the British Isles cruise to get around the country instead of driving up and down to see relatives! :rotfl2:
