Snacks at the parks

I know that there is no outside food and I know that they inspect the bags at the entrance, but ...

I also know of 2 friends of mine that have brought entire meals in backpacks.

One had sandwiches, yogurts, drinks. The other brought fruit and sandwiches.

I have only had the nerve to pack a small ziplock with small candies/snacks for each of my kids, and a couple of water bottles.

Am I missing the boat on the snack thing?

What was it ages ago that someone was eating out of a can by town hall?? oh yeah, corn!!! ha ha!

we've taken in sandwiches before, but it's no fun and not worth the hassle... for the most part we take energy food - raisins, water, life savers... taking in your own water saves at least $4 per person.

I used to think you could not bring food into the parks, but lately i've seen people bring coolers.
I'm not sure what the policy is but, i'm sure if you called the park they'd let you know.

We usually bring in water, juice boxes/pouches and maybe a few snacks like nuts or some prepackaged snacks. Mostly the snacks are brought to keep the kids occupied while waiting in line for a ride. I do carry the drinks because keeping a family of five hydrated at WDW can really do damage to the vacation budget!

If you freeze those little water bottles (loosen the tops so they don't burst), they'll keep your waist cool in the fanny pack and slowly melt into refreshing ice water.

When my parents go to WDW with us, they usually bring sandwiches for lunch since we eat our big meal for supper at the parks. While we eat our counter-service food, they eat their sandwiches!

When you go through security they are looking for weapons, not food. I have not seen anyone going in with a cooler, as DeeDeeDis has, but they don't seem to be concerned re how much food/drink you bring in your backpack. We always bring lots of water but not much else.

We take a small (lunch box type) cooler, but we use it for our kids' sippy cups and juice boxes. We also take small snacks (fruit snacks, granola bars, crackers, etc.) for those times that someone is "starving" and can't wait until the next meal. (Funny how that usually happens in front of the McDonalds stand, Mickey bar cart, etc.)

I've brought in water, granola bars, peanut butter crackers...usually just snack food.

We bring a small collapsible cooler--only because we haul a stroller with us and our 3 children.

In it we carry water and juice for the kids, goldfish, granola bars, and maybe a couple of cheese sticks.

We still end up buying lots of snacks, but it does help to have a few (mostly for the kids!)

HTH!

Hey, I only ate my corn in front of Town Hall and no one will let me forget it! ;) :p ;) .

Seriously, although we only bring in water and snacks (granola bars, etc), we've seen folks bring in a lot more.

Let me ask this question: Has anyone ever been denied admission to a WDW Park because they had food items?

I think the "official" Disney line is no outside food or drinks but it's not enforced at all from what I've seen. On our last trip, we packed water, lemonade for our DD3, snacks, fruits, etc. in a backpack and security never even looked twice. I have seen people with coolers and even a family having a full blown picnic (drinks, sandwiches, chips, etc.) inside the park with no problem. That's one good thing about Disney in my opinion. They very much cater to families and I think Disney realizes that everyone has travels differently. Who knows, some families might not be able budget all three meals and having a home made lunch is the only way they can enjoy the Disney magic.

We have packed snacks and drinks, but not in coolers. LOL However our last trip we did see those mesh insulated coolers go in.

If it wasnt for the snacks and drinks we bring with us, we wouldnt be able to afford Disney. We do buy one big meal each do onsite and then sometimes a smaller meal onsite for the same day. I have three kids who eat and drink constantly in the park, I cant imagine how much $$$ we would spend and time spent if we had to buy food everytime we turned around.

While it may be Disney's official policy. It surely is not enforced. I've never encountered any problem bringing in snacks and drinks (mostly pouch drinks and water bottles, snacks are granola bars, chips, cereal, etc)

You can take anything in, just not glass bottles. They do have to inspect the bags, but sandwiches and yogurt cups should be fine.

I bring granola bars and bags of cookies in with me all the time. Sometimes, I need sugar really quickly and can't wait in Disney snack lines.
