My DS started a new preschool this year and the parents have to provide the snacks. At his previous school they were provided so I just sent in treats from time to time.

Can anyone give me some ideas of things to take? I am at a total loss!

Thanks!

I don't have kids, but my first thought is goldfish and animal crackers!

Great thread. I'm subscribing too since I am in the same situation and new to providing snacks!

Thanks!

You have to be so careful with nut allergies that bringing snacks always makes me nervous! As PP said, Goldfish and animal crackers are great. You could also try Teddy Grahams or mini pretzels.

Are you taking snacks for the whole class on a set schedule or just your child each day?

Apple or orange slices. Pretzels. Mini-muffins. If there are no dairy allergies- GoGurts.

Goldfish, teddy grahams, pretzels, apple wedges, and iced animal crackers were a big hit with DD preschool class last year.

We moved and she will be at a new preschool this year so I am not sure if I have to provide snack or not, but I am subscribing for new ideas.

Parents at my dd's preschool had to bring two snacks each day as part of the rotation.
They ate all of the snacks already listed. I'll add baby carrots with ranch dressing, string cheese, grapes, some moms even made little turkey / ham and cheese sandwiches and cut them into cute little shapes.

We had to provide snacks twice each season (fall & spring). We sent cheese & crackers, grapes, pretzels, goldfish, snack crackers, raisins (well, we would have, but for an allergy), plus some of the other stuff mentioned.

The preschool wanted to avoid sweets, except on a birthday (which pretty much meant almonst one every couple of weeks, with 20 kids), so for those we would send brownies or cupcakes. Basically, we wanted something that was shelf-stable, was not an allergen, and was easy to clean up.

lots of good suggestions already. Assuming no allergies, I will add:
cheese cubes
pita wedges
mini bagles with cream cheese
ants on a log (celery with peanutbutter in the slice and raisins on it as "ants")
cereal mixes
seasonal fresh fruit (washed, peeled, etc.--ready to go)
oatmeal raisin cookies
pumpkin or banana bread (sliced and ready to serve)
corn muffins

Previous snack mom here.... some of the big hits were, finger jello, string cheese cut into 3rd's (something about the small size they loved) if no peanut allergy, pbj sandwiches cut into cute shapes, cojack cheese cut into small shapes with mini cookie cutters and crackers, snack mix with a combination of bugels, teddy grahams, goldfish, and raisins. Snack time is so much fun. Wish my dd's were still that age. Lisa

Mini fruit 'kabobs'...popsicle sticks with some melon balls and grapes on them. Pink yogurt to dip into if no allergies makes it even more fun!

Teddy Grahams now makes two types of trail mixes. One of them is a combo of honey TG, pretzels, cheezits and raisins. Our class has no allergies, so I am getting that and gogurts and fruit juice boxes for my daughter's turn in a week.

Glad to have more ideas.:goodvibes
