Hey everyone! I'll be heading down to WDW one week from today (yahoo!:cool1:) and am wondering if anyone has any ideas about snacks I should bring. My family always brings cereal to eat in the room for breakfast and then we try to bring snacks to have in the parks and early afternoon instead of lunch since we eat an early dinner. I've been trying to think of things that wouldn't melt or get crushed in bags and trying to think of things that are somewhat healthy. In the past we have brought Nature Valley bars but those always seem to get completely crushed and crumble in our bags. Any ideas would be very helpful! Thanks!

Protein bars - like Cliff Bars - that are for working out are great to bring and eat for breakfast in the room or to throw in a bag for the park.

Regular granola and cereal bars don't ward off hunger for long - it's the protein that helps with this, and will also help your leg muscles that are likely working a lot harder than they do in your daily life.

So look for Cliff bars or other similar ones that are specifically high in protein.

Maybe you could keep the granola bars in a small Tupperware or other hard-sided container inside your bag.

pringles (plus keep an empty can and then fill it with cereal or round cookies:rotfl:)

dried fruit or fruit leathers/rollups

peanut butter to go packs and crackers in a ....pringles can

beef sticks or jerky

I use tupperware containers for chips, fruit, etc. That way it doesn't get crushed, or if it rains..gets wet. We really like the "Combos" snacks (pretzels or crackers wrapped around some cheese or other center) which are very hearty, filling and dont crumble to oblivion.

I also bring the cardboard sided Muscle Milk which keep us full and energized when we need that boost.

We put things that crush in our sanwich keepers. We brought crackers, nuts, protein bars, etc.

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions! I'll definitely give some of these a try!

We brought a thing of mixed nuts and then put them in small baggies for when we needed a little boost of energy. Really helped stave off hunger between meals

We brought chewy granola bars, fruit snacks and made peanut butter rollups on small tortillas. The peanut butter rollups were the best snack for my group. I made at least two for everyone every morning, and they were usually gone at some point during the day.

I went to Dollar Tree before our last trip and bought several "tupperware" style containers there that I brought our snacks in in the suitcase. Since they were cheap, it didn't bother me to toss them at the end of the trip and use that space for souviners.

Nature Valley granola bars. Yummy and very filling.

If they broke up from being in my purse or pocket for a few hours, it would save me the trouble of breaking them into bits before opening the bag!

The crumbs are a little messy...but if a few get dropped, a bird will be happy. :)

I also like those Sunmaid Goldens & Cherries or dried cranberries. If you toss these into a Baggie with broken up granola or dry roasted nuts, it's pretty yummy.

But you have to bring what YOU like, of course, not what I like. :)

Peanut butter crackers. You know. The unnaturally orange crackers with the peanut butter? My DS and DH could live off of those...

I bring LaraBars for me. They don't melt, have a nice balance of protein, fat and carbs and the ingredients are real and few. :thumbsup2

Trail mix with M&M's.

I second the motion about trail mix. I make my own, with mixed nuts or peanuts, M&Ms, raisins, and pretzels. You could add other stuff, if you want (goldfish crackers, other dried fruit, etc.).

It packs really easily (ziploc bag; the only thing that might break might be the pretzels, and that doesn't matter to me!). It has a nice mix of carbs and protein. Holds up really well to the heat, and is pretty tasty!

We brought individual serving pouches of trail mix and peanuts on our last trip. Worked out great. Nothing got crushed. Nothing melted and got nasty. And they still fit easy in a pocket.
