My husband and I are not big drinkers, so we thought it would be fun to try snacking around the world instead. We were thinking of getting one small thing from each country and sharing it.

Has anyone tried this? What's your favorite food from each country?

This is turning out to be a popular (and previously tested) idea! Here are the collected suggestions so far of things available year round at Epcot, for those who want to try doing this. Since there are so many sweet things available, savory snacks are bolded. Very popular suggestions are italicized:

Norway: bottle of Voss water, school bread, cloud horns, rice pudding, pretzels, sweet pretzel w/ chocolate, fruit tart, almond pastry

Mexico: de la Rosa cookies (in gift shop), churros, nachos, cheese empanadas, chips and salsa in La Cava

China: tea slushies, bubble tea, Caramel Ginger Ice Cream, potstickers, egg rolls

Germany: chocolate covered salted caramel, caramel corn, chocolate caramel covered pineapple, caramel apple, caramel turtles (basically everything in that shop), Paprike chips, Bratwurst

Italy: mini cannoli, pizza

America: funnel cake, turkey leg, jalapeño cheese pretzel

Japan: kaki gori (shaved ice), snacks and drinks from the gift shop, sushi

Morocco: baklava, lamb shawarma, vegetable platter

France: crème brûlée, Duo au Chocolat, strawberry tart, éclair, chocolate mousse, ice cream sandwiches, soft serve ice cream, crêpes, ham and cheese croissant, sandwiches, cheese plate with baguette

UK: fish & chips, scotch egg from the pub, bubble chocolate

Canada: maple candy

Refreshment Port: cronuts, Mickey shaped pretzels (location?)

Alternate ideas: Chocolate around the World, Candies around the World

hi, we have not snacked around the world, but we have had treats in some, our favourites are Norway, America and France.

What were your favorites in each country? I've had school bread in Norway. I think we also had apple pie in America. Don't think we've ever stopped to eat at France. What's the "must try" item there?

Are you going during F&W festival? If so, we made a stop at every booth and shared something between us all...ravioli was a standout....If not, we like the bratwurst in Germany, caramel snack there too! Also love ice cream in France! Bon apetit!

Sadly, no! I've always wanted to go during F&W but it's never worked out.

I had a salted caramel in Germany. Is that what you mean?

Following.

My oldest is VERY upset that we aren't going during F&W this year as we just can't swing it.

We are going in Dec. instead and would love to know how to somewhat recreate the experience without the F&W festival going on.

We don't need the wine part, just the food!

Pretty much everything in the bakery! :rotfl: We haven't been back since they updated the bakery, but it was always a must-stop for us - we'd each pick a dessert and sit by the fountains and people-watch while we ate. The creme brulee was awesome, as are the pastries. FOr our next trip, I'm looking forward to the ice cream sandwiches - I'm hoping they still have pumpkin ice cream in November.

The funnel cake in America is great as well, and we like the Kaki Gori in Japan. We've also often enjoyed getting candy from each of the shops to try.

Had a Carmel apple in Germany....loved it!!!

Also had a crepe and an eclair in France that was good...

What about splitting a fish n chips in England? We had that for
Lunch last trip and it was awesome!!!

Those are the most stand out wc snacks for me!!

Here is what we eat when we eat around the world. Though we usually break this up into a few trips.

Mexico - churros

Norway - cloud horns most people would say school bread

China - one of their tea slushies

Germany- my favorite is a chocolate caramel covered pineapple but the sky is the limit here

Italy - mini cannoli

America - either a funnel cake or a turkey leg

Japan - icee or they have tons of food to try across from the store

Morocco- baklava

France - creme brulee

UK- Fish and Chips!!!!!

Canada -???? we usually walk through here we usually head straight to

Refreshment Port - Cronuts!!!!!

We are planning the same thing for our Epcot day in May! I'm interested to see what everyone here enjoys :cool1:

Pot stickers and/or egg rolls from Lotus Blossom Cafe. More the pot stickers, though. Soft serve ice cream from Crepes de Chefs de France - great and huge and in a waffle cone - or you can get a crepe there. Paprike chips from Sommerfest in Germany.

Always a tradition to eat my way around World Showcase! Mmmmm.

Yummy pastries at Kringla in Norway, everything I've tried there has been good!
Eggrolls in China
Peanut Butter Caramel Crunch Cookie in Germany
Baklava in Morocco
Ham & Cheese Croissant in France

And I had a donut or a beignet somewhere, and I have no clue where it was, but it was soooo good, like best ever. Hope to stumble across it this year, too. May not have been in WS. You know what, it must have been in Future World, because I think it was early morning and I was still in a zombie like state when I ate it, which is why I cannot remember where I was. I'm NOT a morning person. I force myself to do rope drop at WDW tho.....

Last year we had a few snacks at the Food & Wine kiosks, the Lamb Chop and the Garlic Shrimp from Australia. Chicken Potstickers from China, and Potato and Leek Waffle with Braised Beef from Belgium.

This year we will be there during F&W again and I am hoping to try:

Snacks that looked interesting:
•Brazil, Crispy Pork Belly
•Canada, “Le Cellier” Wild Mushroom Beef Filet
Mignon with Truffle Butter Sauce
•Canada, Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup
•China, Beijing Roasted Duck in Hoisin Sauce
•Greece, Chicken gyro with tzatziki Sauce
•Greece, Spanakopita
•Ireland, Lobster & seafood fisherman’s pie
•Patagonia, Beef Empanadas
•Scotland, Seared sea scallop with spinach-cheddar gratin and crispy bacon
•Singapore, Lemongrass chicken curry with coconut and jasmine rice
•Mexico, Sweet Corn Cheesecake

Always fun to split them, this way you can try more. :)

I did "eat around the World Showcase" this year, but NOT all in one day! I did a mix of TS, CS and Snacks over 4 or 5 days. That said, here are some QS/snack things I have enjoyed:

Fish & Chips from the UK - easy to share this if you're eating a lot of other treats.

"Duo au Chocolat" from Les Halles bakery in France - lots of yummy looking treats here, but this was chocolate heaven.

Kaki Gori (shaved ice) in Japan

Troll Horn pastry in Norway (Sweet Almond Pretzel was good, too, but Troll Horn was my favorite. Never tried School Bread because I hate coconut.)

Chocolate covered caramel with sea salt in Germany - milk or dark choc, both are good, just depends on your preference.

If you're up for more of a full meal to share, I love the lamb shawarma platter from Tangierine Cafe in Morocco.

Past favorites:
1. Fish and Chips in UK. Must have every trip!!!!!!!
2. Bubble chocolate in UK
3. Crème Brulee and eclair in France
4. Chocolate and caramel things in Germany (just about anything!)
5. Shaved Ice in Japan
6. Churros and nachos in Mexico

On my list for this year:
1. Turkey and dressing waffle sandwich at refreshment port (if a special in Dec)
2. Cronut from refreshment port
3. Ice cream sandwich from France
4. Cream horn from Norway-----did not like the school bread
5. getting macaroons for my Mom from France
6. getting caramel popcorn from Germany for my Dad
7. May try a bubble tea from China

Snacking around the world is a favorite for us. Many of the things we share. It is also fun to try candy from the different countries. They all have candy in the shops. Some is good and some, not so much! It is fun to try!

Does the Rose & Crown still have the Scotch Egg? For some reason, I am thinking I couldn't get one last year.
