Southern California SNA to Pasadena

Flying into SNA tomorrow.

We're staying in Anaheim for D23, but tomorrow afternoon at 2pm, DD and I have a tour lined up at JPL in Pasadena.

Question: Best route to drive from Anaheim to Pasadena? I'm thinking 5-605-210.

Question 2: Best route to get from Pasadena to Anaheim after? Assume we'll get to the car about 4pm-430pm.

I understand highway driving is crazy at all times of day. If it's best to just reverse my route, I'm good with it.

If there's a non-highway route that's better and doesn't take me through an unsafe place, I'd be glad for feedback.

I've got a bunch of route options printed out. Just not sure what's best and am hoping some DISers can help.

If you've got a smart phone with Google Maps, it will give you estimates.

I remember mapping out a path to Exposition Park, but then finding out traffic was extremely bad on I-5. I just got off and plotted an alternate path.

Probably best to just plan a first option and see how your second or third options are. I remember on the way down to DL I traveled two miles in about 40 minutes because of some damaged roadway on I-5. You can't plan for bad traffic. You can only try to leave early or be OK with it if you're late.

It takes you a little out of your way East, but you could also take 57N to 210W. You may find less traffic this way and that could be to your advantage.

Ha! Just saw that you're probably already on your way. Sorry! Looks like there's pretty bad traffic before you hit the 605 too. Hopefully, if it's the same later, you'll see this and can maybe try that route on your way home.
