Sn agel, any good comments?

One of the reason's we end up here is it is different. Something you can only get at Disney, much like Sci-Fi. Very unique to WDW.

we were hesitant to try it b/c of the "bad reviews", but did so this past october.
we really enjoyed it!! the food was very good (& i've traveled to mexico repeatedly), definately not reminiscent of taco bell, IMHO lol . atmosphere is one of the best & most authentic in WDW, very romatic:lovestruc . our server was very pleasant, & efficient.
the only "bad" thing i've noticed (on more than one occasion, unfortunately) is that the hostess(es) have a tendency to loudly berate the staff, & be rather discourteous to guests (not us, so i did not feel it would be appropriate to speak up :sad2: ).
just our opinion:rolleyes1 , but we find San Angel a much better experience with better food than the revered LeCellier (which is okay, but a bit too mundane for our tastes).
hth :)

Me and my boyfriend went in Sept. '07 and we loved it! The atmosphere was wonderful. Very romantic and beautiful. We had a virgin strawberry margarita and we split the vegetarian combination plate. The margarita was amazing! The food was good, too. I don't think it was the most amazing food I've ever had, but it was good enough that I would go back. The atmosphere alone is enough to go back for. I loved it!

Thank you everyone. The jury is still out on this one. It's interesting to hear so many differing opinions, but doesn't help my decision too much! LOL!

San Angel has great atmosphere and good food. There are few places at WDW that I would say has great food. I believe the prices are reasonable for the menu offered. It really depends on what type of Mexican food you prefer.

Followed this thread through and I'm glad the San Angel seemes to have come out ok in the end as we like it a lot too. Although we couldn't consider ourselves experts of Mexican food we have always enjoyed our meals there and now consider it a must do. And of course the atmosphere is wonderful. So it has a big thumbs up from us.:thumbsup2

Still waiting for a waterside table though.:sad1:

I have never been but alway wanted to. It looks so inviting. I live in southern NH so there aren't alot of authentic mexican resteraunts here. After reading the negative reviews I'm not sure. What about a cool drink and some fried ice cream or flan to share with my kids. We are going the end of april and thinking of trying there this time.

I just posted this on another San Angel thread, but ceviche, ceviche, ceviche. It is simply the best. I order two everytime I go!!

We were there in December and had a great meal! We sat next to the water and our server was efficient. The corn chowder was the best! We don't order the tacos and enchiladas, but go with the house specialties or ask the server for a recommendation. I would definately go back.

We ate there the first time we visited WDW and will never go again. The food and service were awful.

This is however a great lunch spot if you are someone who tours early and hard and now needs some cool quiet place paticularly in the mid day heat to catch your breath. It is pretty cool to eat outside at "night" during lunch.

I agree on both counts. Its a great lunch spot, and a very unique atmosphere. Its not the best mexican I've had, but I enjoy eating there when I get the chance.

That's exactly what we're looking for on our trip. I hadn't even considered San Angel before reading this thread, but I just checked out some photos and we'll definitely be having lunch there.

Thanks!

My wife, daughter, her friend and myself ate there on the DDP last December and enjoyed it. ... they are extremely picky eaters. The atmosphere is great.

where else are you eating? sometimes that will make choices easier, i.e., if you are doing mostly "unusual" (50's PT, biergarten, boma, raglan road, etc) you already have quite a bit of variety. in that case, you might want to opt for a "safer" choice (where the likelihood that you won't like the restaurant is almost nil).
or, if you are doing mostly EPCOT WS restaurants, you might be better off eating in a different park or at a resort for more variety.
IMHO, every restaurant is worthy of a first visit; if you don't eat there on this trip, there's always the next one :thumbsup2
