besides DCL is there any other cruise line that doesn't have smoking. I know the outdoors on DCL you might be able to smoke, but not having a casino or restaurant that allows smoking is different.

I believe that Celebrity and Princess both have policies similar to DCL (i.e. no smoking except in designated outdoor spaces).

Most cruise line only allow smoking in designated areas. But each cruise line has it's own designated areas (some more than others). I know Holland America still includes balconies in their smoking allowed areas.

Most ships with casinos allow smoking in the casino (in my experience). But not in the dining rooms.

A lot of lines allow smoking on balconies. For me, that significantly impacts my enjoyment of my own cabin and is a significant difference from DCL.

I've never sailed either Princess or Celebrity, so I am basing my understanding of their policies on what is written on their websites. They both have the designated areas only language similar to DCL.

I have sailed Princess, as PP there was designated areas only. People and cruise lines, know it's bad for your health.

Do they allow in the casino?
I just checked the Princess site - there's no smoking in the casino now (or the casino bar).

This is from the Princess website:
Generally, these areas include cigar lounges, a section of the nightclub, as well as a portion of the open decks. The Casino and Casino Bar are non-smoking areas on board, with the exception of designated slot machines where guests are permitted to smoke only while playing at those machines. All table games are non-smoking. The Casino will also have one or more non-smoking nights (6 pm to closing), depending on length of voyage. Show lounges, dining rooms and all food services areas on board all Princess ships are non-smoking.

Celebrity has a casino but does NOT allow smoking in it. Therefore the ONLY place to smoke on Celebrity is the OUTDOOR smoking sections. Celebrity will be our next cruiseline for that very reason.

I'm fairly certain that of the commonly used by Americans mainstream cruiselines, only HAL still *allows* smoking on balconies.

= there's smoking in the casinos on Princess.

At least for sensitive people like me. Even the designated night or two of no smoking at all in the casino doesn't help me, because it will all still be horrible for my senses.

Thanks all, the smoke for me just lingers. I have never been a smoker, but can smell it a mile away, shocks my friends everyday. So I figure as long as it on the outside decks, it shouldnt seep into the sleeping quarters.

I was specifically thinking of NCL, but apparently they banned balcony smoking in 2014. (I last cruised with them the year prior, so I didn't realize there was a policy change). Clearly my info on this subject is out of date.

Thanks for looking that up. So smoking isn't allowed except where it is.

By the way, any frustration that seeped through in my response about the casino situation on Princess is at Princess cruise lines, NOT at our Princess Shmoo. I always appreciate information and those who gather it.

There was smoking allowed in the casino on RCCL when we cruised them in January (Jewel of the Seas) but not any of the restaurants or balconies on the port side.

Thanks, but I didn't read that into it. I understand where you're coming from - I don't like it either, and I agree the smell is still there, even when it's "non-smoking".
