Smoking on balconies

...and the other type is...well... reasonable, well rationed and aware that a sniff or 2 of cigarette, cigar, or pipe smoke is trivial and inconsequential...and are able to move on.

Tell my son it's inconsequential when he's gasping for breath from the sniff of a cigarette. My sinuses can't even handle cigarettes and yes, one whiff is enough to cause an asthmatic attack and/or allergic reaction.

1.Please notice the BOLD highlights....the very definition of HYPOCRACY...thank you for playing try again! lol...amazing :scared1: so if it had not been near yours it would not be a problem????? I thought rules are rules are rules???

2.oh...and FYI: it can get VERY smoky in MK during the fireworks...have you ever been back near Tomorrowland and Fantasyland when they are going off...if someone has asthma then I would suggest you NEVER go there during the fireworks...don't even think about it...really...don't do it...

4.Obviously there are multiple schools of thought on these things but basically there are 2 main types...there are the self-righteous folks on one hand who refuse to accept the faults and foibles of others and view them as extreme infringements upon their sovereign person and an affront as such demands swift and decisive action...taking pictures, engaging in a confrontation with demands that the activity cease and desist...

3. ...and the other type is...well... reasonable, well rationed and aware that a sniff or 2 of cigarette, cigar, or pipe smoke is trivial and inconsequential...and are able to move on.

Even as a non-smoker I prefer to live the latter...and as far as getting peeved off at "rule breakers" you are attempting a straw man argument; I refuse to entertain you...I could...but most likely I will not. I am done with you...it is simply not worth my time and anyone reading my posts will clearly see my point...or not...and neither matters to me one iota.

There you go yet again. You must really have fun playing with the caps lock.

1. Yes, all rules need to be followed. I never said they didn't. Does that mean that I am going to check every balcony to make sure that people are not smoking on them? Nope, sorry I don't get paid to do that. However if someone is smoking on a balcony near my making to where we can not enjoy the balcony we paid for, then yes I am going to turn them into the front desk.

2. Actual no I have never been near the back during the fireworks, but thanks for making that assuption. We always watch them near the front of the park for an easy exit.

3. Since you are into giving definitions here is one for you. ignorant - lacking knowledge or comprehension of the thing specified. Yes that's all it takes for some people to have an anthma attack. My mother in law has asthma to such a degree that not only does smoke bring on an attack but perfume. They have had to post signs all over her office, and even had to ask sales reps not to wear strong perfume the day that they are in her office. Also, if someone just smells strongly of smoke it sets off an asthma attack.

4. I will agree that there ar two main schools of thought. However following the rules and expecting others to do the same does not make one "self-righteous". I have no problem with the DSA's and would love to hug all the smokers that use them. If they want to spend part of their vacation smoking in a DSA that is their right. However when they smoke on a balcony making it where I can not use mine, then yes I have ever right to get that action stopped. If it were allowed then honestly I would just not spend the extra money.

Honestly the mods should just close this thread. It's just going to be people going back and forth between people who think that smoking on balconies should be inforced and those that think it's ok to break that rule b/c you're too lazy to walk to a DSA to smoke.

Hear, hear. Good post. :thumbsup2

Please stop arguing or attacking, or this otherwise beneficial thread will probably get closed.

Thank you, and now back to your regularly-scheduled thread.

The OP's question was answered a long time ago Smoking is only permitted in DSAs" Yes you are right.

Now all that is left is nastiness on both sides.:sad1:

If you want to get really irritated, try being a rule-following smoker sitting at the DSA near the Poly quiet pool, in a pouring rain storm (luckily there is an overhang there) and seeing someone on the 3rd floor balcony of Hawaii (where we were staying as well) breaking the WDW rules and having a smoke on their balcony! That really steamed me - I probably should have done something about it, but I was too lazy!

So, it's not just non-smokers that can get irritated by people smoking on their balconies!

And I saw this numerous times during the week, on multiple balconies around the quiet pool.

We were also shown or asked to sign a paper upon check-in as well clearly outlining the smoking policies and the possible fines for smoking in the room or on the balcony.

Please don't give smokers the benefit of the doubt assuming that they don't know the rules. Smoke from a cigarette is a dangerous carcinogen, that affects people who breathe it second hand. Smokers simply don't care about this fact.

For all you smoke vs. no smoke types..My 5yo DD referred to the exhaust coming out of my car as SMOKE. Made me think..If non-smokers rights people would jump ship to the green earth campaign, we MAY, just MAY be able to eliminate the internal cumbustion engine. The smoke from which, IMO, would REALLY irritate non smokers, moreso than my Virginia Slim. That engine, and the reliance on fossil fuels has hurt us ALL. CHOOSE YOUR BATTLES...
Non smoker types are not only concerned for their health, but I think they have now stereotyped the smoker into a person who is to be treated like the plague. TURN YOUR CAR OFF, if you REALLY dont like smoke.
Smoking is LEGAL. L.E.G.A.L.!!How can you tell me where and when to perform a LEGAL act?!!It just KILLS ME.
Whats next? COLOGNE? No more cologne. SOME people are allergic to it. Just like SOME people carry the DNA strand for cancer. SOME.
Ill bet they drive a car.:hippie: :scared:

Car smoke is significantly different than cigarette smoke. In Ohio, smoking in public places/restaurant/hotels is ILLEGAL and I would like to see smoking banned all across America everywhere except a person's personal property (home and car). Comparing cologne to second hand smoke is insane, second hand smoke isn't about allergies, it's about poison that can KILL you, esp. being second hand smoke. Cologne doesn't kill. Sex is also "legal" however, you are told where you CAN and CANNOT have that....

here's what we do know:
I live in ohio, and ironically, I work in a restaurant, but thanks for the update.
If smoking IS illegal, why dont the police come when people smoke in a restaurant in ohio?
Allergies kill. Epipen anyone?
Cars kill the ozone, which in turn GIVES US CANCER? Cancer WE ALL cant afford to pay for, because we're too busy working to pay for gasoline.
Even as a smoker, I wouldnt appreciate smelling someone else's. But second hand smoke in a hotel is a discomfort. Not a health threat. Come on.:worship:

Here you go, there is a state-wide smoking ban in Ohio, so your employer should look into it to avoid penalty... Second hand smoke is most definitely NOT just a discomfort. Try to justify it all you like, there is nothing you can invalidate about the actual detriment that second hand smoke causes. Sorry.

bnba2 if I was "loosing" the agrument you would not have PM'd me the following. The cussword was edited to be able to post.

"Yo A*%hat....just because you lost an argument is no reason for a thread to be closed

typical Texan for ya...ignorant and boastful...we have certainly seen enough of that for the last few years"

Honestly when you have to stoop to cussing and hiding in a PM that is when you loose. Really, I would expect more from someone on this site, but I guess you haven't been around long enough to know. Don't bother PM'ing me again, it will just be forwarded to the mods like the last one was.
