Anyone know if building 42 is Non smoking? I tried a search, but didn't get what I was looking for.

If this is still correct, smoking buildings are:
12,19,21,25,41, and 50. So 42 should be non-smoking.

This was listed in Spiceycat's post earlier:

"worst yet - their are now only 4 smoking building at OKW - 12, 19, 25 and 41 - so I am very, very sorry for you smokers.

I just talk to Jackie."

I read that also, but, apparently, no one has told Member Services yet, and her post seems to have vanished.

The unfortunate thing about this is if a smoker wants a smoking optional room and there are none to be had, then the front desk will send ashtrays in anyway and tell you to go ahead and smoke.

That is VERY bad for those of us allergic folks. That might explain why we once had a non-smoking 2 bedroom that smelled so bad of smoke, I couldn't sleep the whole trip!

Or, the folks in the room simply did not care. Either way it is unfortunate. This, however, is what will happen on a very large scale if non smokers keep pushing for a totally no smoking resort.

IMHO, you are stopping problems before they happen by leaving the current policy alone.

Why it matters to non smokers that there are smoking unit/buildings is well beyond my level of comprehension. If you don't stay in one or will not be in one, why do you care what people do in it? (this is not intended for you Dinae, just a general rant). Is this some sort of control thing?

Gail,

I agree with you on this, and I'm about as anti-smoking as anyone.
I don't want to make anyone's life difficult or spoil their vacation, I just want a smoke-free room/building/vacation for my family. The only way to guarantee that I can have a smoke-free room is to have an adequate number of smoking rooms for those who need them.

Exactly my point. I don't want any one's vacation ruined, including mine. I am happy you see the logic in this. :)

Hmmm...maybe if they made OKW smoking required and made the other WDW DVC resorts non-smoking we could work this all out....this way the smokers can get a break on their points costs to make up for the extra taxes the pols foist upon them, the smokers will have larger, airier rooms for the smoke to disburse through, larger balconies to be able to comfortably smoke outside if they choose, and of course, there's no 4 mile long hallways to traverse to get to your rooms so long as they don't collapse from lack of oxygen climbing the stairs at the un-elevatored buildings.... :teeth:

no thank you - I am allergic to smoke - but I happen to love OKW -

they use to have OKW resort half and half - I thought that was fair - but Jackie said that all the DVC resorts were going to 90 to 95% non-smoking.

She comment that most DVC members are non-smoking - yes that could be - but occassionally you might have a guest that is a smoker and would need one of these building.

I think that there should be more than 4 building at OKW for smokers

that also explains why part of floor 2 at BWV is now non-smoking vs the whole floor being smoking.

I don't smoke - I can't - but my older brother does - this is just not fair to all of DVC members or guests who smoke.

at the rate the smoking rooms are going - shortly they won't have any and that is just not right.

If this does happen( all non-smoking.....and I am sure it will) what is stopping the smokers from walking outside to smoke? This would solve all the request problems, health, allergies, etc and smokers

I'm not trying to play moderator here, but I think the OP had a pretty simple question that has gone off topic.

I guess smoking topics will soon end up in the same category as occupancy threads!

Not trying to offend, it just seems that a person can't ask a straightforward question on this topic without it getting heated.

As I have asked you so often. What do you care if there are smoking buildings or units? If you are not going into one what does it matter. IMHO, it is a control thing with you. and, as I have said many times, you make it non smoking totally and there will be a whole lot more problems than keeping smoking buildings or units. We should not have to go outside to enjoy a habit that is perfectly legal because you don't like smoke. That, sir, is nuts!! Besides, you and I both know, someone will complain about that because they may walk by and get a whiff of smoke and the world will end and their vacation will be ruined.

I hate SUV's I think they pollute and suck gas, but, I am not on a vedetta to rid the world of them and they cause more pollution and lung problems than smoking outside ever will.

Not an expert, Nick, just a smoker who is considerate of others and wish the same was extended to me.
