Smoking at OKW.

Not sure if it is written, but, it has been that way since the beginnig.
Personally, the smell of a good cigar is very pleasant to me, but, I do understand that it could be very offensive to others.
It is a moot point for me as I do request a smoking optional unit, but, I do smoke on the balcony from time to time and unfortunately, they do sometimes come in the proximity to other villas which are non smoking. I do check first to see if anyone in a different building is outside first. However, I really don't see and issue with a balcony some 20-50 feet away. I would think the smoke, being lighter than air, would dissapate before it hit anywhere to be offensive.

There is also a difference in resorts. At OKW , each building is either entirely non-smoking or entirely smoking optional. Thus, those in a non-smoking building might assume that there would be no smoke coming from anyplace in/around the building- including balconies.

At BWV and VWL, there are no separate buildings- only non-smoking/smoking floors. Someone in a smoking optional room- who smokes on his balcony might still be apparent from the non-smoking balcony above or below.

Tough issue for everyone.

I certainly understand that non smokers don't want a smoking unit if no one is smoking inside. However the question remains where outside is smoking not a problem to the non smokers. I truly wish you well. I would love to invite my db and dsil to come with us but they are smokers and I know it would be a burden for them to stay in an nonsmoking unit and I can't stay in a smoking one. We probably will get them their own smoking studio when they join us.
Again, good luck resolving this situation.

You are totally right, as usual, about the OKW buildings, however a smoking optional building could very easily be directly across from a non smoking building and the smoke could weft that 50 or so feet to that balcony, hence making someone uncomfortable.
