I am having a big problem with my dh. He just recently took up smoking again (YUK!) and while I've tried to get him to stop, he at least would only do it outside. Well, now I can tell he is doing it in our car (I can smell it); but even worse, in the upstairs bathroom! And then he lies about it, even swearing on the lives of our furbabies! And how do I know he's doing it? I find ashes in his sink and yesterday, a big pile beside the toilet - not to mention I can smell it. What's worse, he pretends like I'm the crazy one even though I show him the ashes. Other than this, he's great - but he is driving me crazy and I really feel it's not fair. Any suggestions?

if he insists on doing it...let him...just tell him to take it outside (or in the garage with the door open if you have an attachd garage)

he's only trying to "hide" from you in the bathroom i bet...if you just acknowledge it...he'll get over trying to hide

but that's the thing, I do and I do ask him to just take it outside, especially b/c I have asthma.

No offense...but I find smoking indoors one of GROSSEST thing ever.

and I'm an ex smoker. both DH and I quit...we NEVER smoked inside either of our houses.

show him how NASTY it gets on the walls...how it turns everything yellow...how it's making the shower curtain/curtains/rugs/STINK like stale/damp smoke (blech!)

why does he want to do it indoors? cause it's sheltered/warm? is he smoking while he's...um...on the pot? (eeww! hehehe)

No offense taken at all - I agree with you 100%! that's why I don't want it in the house!

quite frankly, I think it's b/c he's lazy!

I would almost be a little more harsh with him. My mother used to smoke in the car while I was in it until I started to flip out on her, literally. It was the only way to get through to her. She doesn't smoke indoors either anymore though...

That is certainly assine, for sure. It is a matter of disrespect and a marriage issue.
You need to have a "sit-down".

That being said I quit 2 years ago and my dh (who I never, ever would have thought...) is trying to quit. He is on day 4!
BTW...We NEVER smoked inside either.

Sounds like he has his priorities reversed....you or his laziness in not smoking outside. Can't do anything if he does not care about you, your asthma and feelings.
