cabin, condo or hotel. Where have you stayed that you would recommend? thinking of going the week of thanksgiving.

We love staying in cabins near Gatlinburg.

We use this company for our cabins:
About The Smokies

We've stayed in Black Bear Den, and loved it. Now we are booked to stay down there again this fall but in LeConte Vista.

Gatlinburg has a TON to do, but if you are more interested in getting into the Mountains, it's easy access from the Gatlinburg area straight into the Great Smokey Mountain National Park.

We rented a cabin in Pigeon Forge last month through www.vrbo.com and had such a fantastic vacation.

Have a great trip! There is so much to do there.

In my 4 trips to the Smokies, I've always stayed at the Gatlinburg Summit. It's a group of condominiums on a mountain that overlooks Gatlinburg. The price is reasonable and the view is great. '
That and you don't have to drive thru Gatlinburg to get to the main entrance to the Smoky Mountains, too.
BTW, if you think that is the place you want to stay at, pm me and I'll give you a better way to get there than what they advertise. It allows you to use the Gatlinburg bypass.

The one and only time I've stayed near the Smokies was at the Inn at Christmas Place in Pigeon Forge. I don't know how economical it is, but the hotel was top notch in terms of service and amenities. Plus, the Xmas theme can't be beat! We were there right around Easter, but it was in March that year, and it actually snowed that day! So, the theme of the hotel fit perfectly.

I second the Inn at Christmas Place. It's not cheap, but it has an indoor pool, free cookies and milk with Santa, and a great breakfast. Check out tripadvisor for reviews.

This place has no indoor pool, but is clean and on the trolly stop in Pegion Forge (sp?) Microtel Inn. There are two. You want the one that is behind McDonalds on the Parkway.

I love the Inn at Christmas Place! We stayed there this summer and I can't see how we could stay anywhere else now when we go there. It is in Pigeon Forge right in the middle of everything and there are some really good restaurants nearby.

We just got back from there. This was our second year. We have had great luck renting through HomeAway.com. I recommend looking for reviews of the cabins and talking to the owners. We loved both places we stayed and found that this year, with the lull in the economy, we got even better deals than last year. Hope you enjoy it - it is our new retirement dream!

We go every spring break and reserve a cabin through Patriot Getaways. We've tried several different cabins now, and have never been disappointed! :goodvibes

Willowbrook Lodge on the left right before you come to the Dollywood stoplight. Queen beds, very clean, awesome waterslide at the outdoor pool, indoor pool and hot tub, free breakfast with sausage gravy and biscuits, bagels, doughnuts, fruit, cereals, juice and coffee. If you go to their website you can print a 10% off coupon. We have Dollywood season passes and when we go up for a long weekend this is where we always stay.:thumbsup2
