First the intention of this is to allow Smokers, closet smokers and non smokers who care express an opinion on what our new Smoking area should be like as it seems this board may be viewed by people who have influence. Smokers are also welcome to share memories of smoking on your Balcony and non Smokers can share memories of enjoyable times with Smokers. This will be beneficial to all as a nice area will encourage the seeming unwilling to make the journey and maybe meet a new friend in turn making Smokers and Non Smokers happy—and maybe even encourage some non smokers to visit our area and live a few minutes as a smoker. Finally I encourage closet smokers to come out and share your enjoyment.
I am an EX-Smoker of 15 years. I quit a little over 3 1/2 years ago and now enjoy smoking a Cigar in the evening on a nice night. I do smoke cigarettes on occasion when I am around a lot of Smokers (most of my friends) but it is rare I see them anymore. I did enjoy smoking cigarettes on the balconies when I stayed at the Poly and other resorts. I did enjoy the occasional Cigar on my Balcony at the BW and OKW and always made sure my neighbors were not out. I also did enjoy a few cigarettes on my last trip to OKW with my extended family. I would also gladly extinguish my Cigar in turn for a cigarette to not offend a cigarette smoker.
My vision of a nice area would be in a prime spot as this our home…… It would be easily accessible and have a covered side and an open side so we can enjoy in the rain, stay out of the sun or enjoy the evening sky. Seating would need to be comfortable to make us feel welcome. I would like a view of something other than a parking lot or road. I would expect all who use this area to use the ash trays and expect that it be cleaned as regularly as a heavily used non smoking area.
For all ill willed Non Smokers who think of posting here MOVE ON as the ill will can be returned as a neighbor smoking on the Balcony next to yours. :rolleyes1

Smoking/non smoking policy discussions are no longer appropriate on the DVC forums.
