Anyone else from Maine/NH smelling and seeing the smoke? Yesterday morning was the first time we smelled it, then hubs said in town in the valley was all smokey. This morning it still smells and my mom said she can see the smoke at her place. Reports say over 90k acres are burning.

We are in Concord NH. I didn't notice it yesterday but today I could smell the smoke when I woke up and it is visibly hazy outside. My husband went downtown this morning which sits in the Merrimack River valley. He said it is so smokey his eyes were stinging - and the smoke in the valley is so thick you'd think it was a local fire.

Maine? I'm WAY closer than you! :lmao:

It wasn't bad yesterday, but overnight the winds shifted and this morning all you can see outside is a nasty gray pall. My whole house smells like smoke and I'm getting a headache.

I should probably stay away from heated topics today...

BTW, I'm looking forward to visiting your lovely state for my first time, in just four weeks! Old Orchard Beach, here I come! :yay:

I woke up to the smell of smoke on Cape Cod and searched the entire house and then walked around outside but couldn't find anything. Boy, was I relieved to find out it is smoke from Quebec. I was really starting to get nervous that I had an electrical issue in the walls or something. So, yes, here in Southeastern Mass it is quite hazy and smelly:sad1:

Here in NH it is very smoky and smelly. We all thought it was a local fire. That's what I get for missing the news all weekend.

Yup...smelling the smoke and seeing the haze since yesterday mid morning here in Southern Maine.

I'm in the Lake Sunapee Region of NH. Didn't notice it at all yesterday but today I thought someone was burning brush. I couldn't figure out how they got a permit to do that since it's a High Fire Danger. Found out from my Mom when my DS12 called her this morning. Guess I should watch the news more.

It's hazy and smells like smoke here in Boston. I thought there was a big fire around here. I turned on the news at noon and was surprised that the smoke/smell was from fires in Canada!

yep, considering I live on the edge of thousands of acres of forest, I was a teeny bit nervous smelling and seeing the smoke. It's crazy and scary how far it's travelling.

I'm in the Manchester, NH area. No smoke here yesterday, but what a difference a day makes. VERY hazy/smoky appearance to the air, and a nasty smoky smell today. I was at work at a mall this morning, and it was possible to smell it even inside the mall, in a corner that's pretty far from all doors. We're apparently 500 miles from the fires, and this is as bad as I experienced when we were in Orlando several years ago just a few miles from brush fires. I saw something about smoke affecting NH and Maine yesterday, but my understanding was that it was supposed to go away by today. Definitely wasn't anticipating this

plenty of haze and smokiness here south of Boston...we live on the edge of a reserve where there actually was a fire last week, so when I went outside this morning, I thought it was on fire again.
