With the fires in Anaheim Hills, is Disneyland smoky? We plan to go on Thursday (3 days from now). Our daughter-in-law is concerned about taking kids (age 7 months, 3 and 5 years) if it is smoky. Plus, she has asthma. Our hotel can be canceled until 6PM on Wednesday, so that is not a problem.

Is there a phone number to call at Disneyland, where they could give me an update on the smoke?

You can call (714) 781-6575

I don't think it will be smokey -- you may smell smoke depending on winds, strength of fire, etc.

I've only smelled smoke once there and that was when we went through those horrendous fires a couple of years ago.

Unless it flares up into a huge firestorm, I wouldn't worry too much. I live much closer to the fireworks than DL and the smoke wasn't too bad around my house today.

I don't think you can smell the smoke all the way out at DL. Most of the smoke is going upwards. I live pretty close to it and I don't smell it. I guess it depends on the wind direction.

I'm suprised you can't smell it down there. I guess it must be because it's so windy? I live way up in Valencia and walking up the hill to pick up my kids from school today was definatly more trying then usual. There happened to be a HUGE 'smoke' cloud that I first noticed when I was in Burbank around noon and by the time I went to get the kids at 2 the cloud was right over Valencia.

I never noticed a smoke smell any of the times I went to DL in January, so I didn't even know there was a fire in the Anaheim Hills! I guess it is true what Walt said. You really do enter a new world once you walk through the gates!

One of my friends lives in Seal Beach and he can smell it.

My boyfriend lives on Ball and works near the Pond and he is complaining about the smoke in the air because he has allergies. The winds have died down today and it will most likely be much, much better by the time you get here.

There has been a big cloud of smoke above Disneyland yesterday and today, but you couldn't really smell it. There was a lot of ash in the air though. It probably would depend heavily on the wind direction, it was very windy yesterday bringing the smoke over Disneyland.

When I called Disneyland this noon, they assured me there was no smoke and no health alert. I talked with hotel -- they said air was clear then, but they could not guarantee what it would be like tomorrow -- the day we will be at Disneyland. Daughter-in-law decided we should go ahead with our plans. Leaving a couple of hours.

They're getting the fire under control, so you shouldn't have much to deal with tomorrow. There's basically no ash today and the smoke cloud is much smaller and lighter than the last few days.

Today was much better than yesterday was. I work near the park it yesterday was pretty bad. Lots of smoke and ash. Plus the whole sky was hazing and icky. Also we were on alert for many reasons due to the fires. And yesterday and the day before lots around the campus were waring masks it was so bad. Today there was none of that. Much more clearer and the wind did not seem as bad. Plus, the big black smoke cloud wasn't there anymore. My sweetpea also has really bad allergies and asthma and the fires just got her sick. She came home from school early yesterday, but with the change in the wind and fire, she is much better today. I think you guys will be fine as long as the weather keeps up. Good luck.

Thanks for the update! We leave tomorrow as well and I have been wondering. We were there in October of 2003 and it was awful and kind of scary. Didn't want a repeat of that. Glad to hear from a local who is in the know, its improved!

Was there Mon the 6th and the fires looked bad driving in but when we arrived at the parks it was not that bad .No real smell just some small ash blowing (sometimes and areas worst then others )but not that bad .I just got back from LA today and Mon looked the worst as far as fire clouds go for my 3 days I was in the area so you should be alright.
