Smells of Disney

Chlorine reminds me of Disney.

LOL - Same here. Whenever I arrive at the airport I notice the smell of chlorinated water as soon as I walk into the restroom.

Sometimes certain misty water scents remind me of the lobby at the Polynesian because of all the plants. And a trip is never complete until we at least visit the Polynesian and get a whiff of that familiar lobby :)

Yeah, that rainforeest smell of the Polynesian Lobby is the only smell I associate with Disney, but it is a powerful association.

Something else I associate with Disney, but isn't a smell - on a really hot humid day in the summer, when I walk out of an airconditioned building and the heat and humidity hits me like a wall, that reminds me of Disney.

I find it amusing that people associate the smell of bus exhaust with Disney. I can only guess that these people have never commuted by bus on a daily basis - otherwise that smell wouldn't be so friendly.

Isn't it funny how alot of us LOVE certain things that smell BAD because they remind us of WDW????? i.e. bus exhaust, chlorine, etc. Add me to the list of people who love that characteristic chlorinated water smell (although it also has a little musty smell to it).

Also, we stay at value resorts. While at WDW, I use the shampoo that they have in those dispensers in the shower. Since, it's at WDW I love the smell. I have found (I think) that the shampoo that they use is V05 (or at least it smells like it). This is really cheap shampoo and probably not that great for my hair but I might just go and get some today. Maybe I'll just use it on special occasions. I'll be able to smell WDW all day!

the Autumn Lodge candle from Yankee Candles always reminds me of the Wilderness Lodge. We burn it alot at our house.

Freshly baked cinnamon rolls! The first time we went to Animal Kingdom it was early Feb. and really cold. We were passing by the Tusker House Rest. and the bakery there was just pulling a batch of freshly made cinnamon rolls out of the oven. Oh, my were they divine! Nice and gooey with a hot cup of coffee...everytime we go I have to stop and get some. :lovestruc

When we were at disney last november, my 6 year old ripped one in the CS lobby. Now, whenever, he does that at home, the smell reminds us of how embarrasing it is to have kids.

This is going to sound absolutely crazy, but it is Thermasilk hairspray. Everyday of our stay at WDW (both times) I put my hair back in a ponytail or bun. I don't normally wear it back because the humidity in NJ is nothing compared to FL and my hair absolutely hates humidity. Anyway...so now, if I happen to wear my hair back, I use the Thermasilk hairspray, and it brings me right back to WDW!!! Crazy, I know.

The smell of bus exhaust. I find myself in traffic with my sunroof cracked and one will pull up next to me. I want so badly to see "MAGIC KINGDOM" written across the front of it.

I thought I was the only one!

The other smell is the bug spray/exhaust combo you smell on the Friendships at the Epcot resorts. It shouldn't be nice, it can't be good for you, but on that first boatride, I take a nice, deep breath! "Ah, I'm here!"

Also, nothing beats sitting along Main Street munching on popcorn. I have ruined many a dinner's appetite that way. So, everytime I smell freshly popped popcorn, it takes me back.
