I think what you are discribbing is something called "Fizzies" . They were popular when I was a kid. You put them in a glass and they made a fizzy koolaid type drink.

E, luckily I don't like Hershey's kisses. My dd loves them and she eats almost a whole bag in 1 sitting.

Ltldeb, I'm glad they have the Reece's pieces eggs only once a year. I love those things too.

Nutsy's Smarties are the same as the ones we have up here. They are sort of like M&M's--candy coated chocolate. I kind of wondered about putting chocolate in Sprite and having it fizz!!! But now I understand!

I moved down here from Canada and had a real Smarties confusion problem when we first came.....
Smarties in Canada (picture) are like M&M's (but better and made in a completely peanut free plant!)
Smarties in US are exacty the same product as "Rockets" in Canada (yum!)
For all you Canadians.......I do miss those Coffee Crisps!!!

As I'm reading this thread, I'm still trying to get the Mike and Ike's that I ate five minutes ago out of my teeth .

We have a bunch of bubblegum machines in our building containing your typical "after-lunch-need-a-sugar-high" type items: Mike and Ikes, Hot Tamales, M&M's, M&M Peanut, Skittles and cashews (for the more health conscious). I'm on a diet, so of course, I got the fat free candy .

Now I'm feeling like this .

Reading this thread, I'm reminded of "canteen" at summer camp when we would slip some kind of candy, like Smarties or Sweet Tarts, into our friends' bottles of pop and within a few seconds they'd have a miniature volcano erupting all over them!

When we lived in Rochester, NY some years ago, we gave out Smarties for Trick or Treat.

Well, this group of boys who came by went CRAZY for them and told me what they did with them!

They crushed them up into powder, and took a small straw (like a coffee stirrer type) and "sniffed" the powder into their nose, pretending like they were snorting "coke".

I was flabbergasted!!!!

As soon as I saw this thread I pulled two rolls of Smarties out of my pocket. I give them out to my students in school for a job well done or if they say something like "Mrs. K you're not old, you're cool". I have learning support students, it is amazing what they will do for one pack of Smarties. I'll also hand them out in the hallway to the mainstream kids, just as a - have a nice day gesture. The looks on their faces, it is like they have received a million bucks - SMarties!!! FOR ME!!! At Halloween CVS had them at 90% off, they were 10 cents a bag. I filled up an entire grocery cart. DH thought I was nuts, I bought $9 worth. They have lasted all school year, I'm down to my last 4 bags.
