Smart Phone vs. Regular Cell Phone?

I just recently bought a smartphone (virgin mobile) with no contract and I must say I find it very helpful.
$35 a month and great coverage.

If we are out and about I can look up the hours of a store we might decide to go to while running errands.

I used it to show the cashier at WalMart a lower rate on a S/D card that was at Best Buy and she immediately matched the price.

If I am flying SWA I can check in for my flight no matter where I am at.

I subscribe to "remember the milk" and I keep track of my grocery list on there.

Oh don't forget the "my disney experience" app which list the wait time for rides!
It has a GPS app.

it has a camera and video recorder.

Two weeks at ago at Disney we were at the park and it started to rain so we looked on the phone to see what the radar looked like and how much rain we would be getting.

There may not be monetary value that you appreciate but there are other ways of looking at "value."

You don't give much info about yourself which is fine so I can't tell you how it could affect your wife, but I use my smart phone to check email when I'm waiting in line to pick up my son at school. I use my phone to keep track of grocery lists. I have all of my music on it and audiobooks that I listen to while exercising. I use it to look up recipes I use it as a phone (can never have too man pictures of kids).

To me, all that is well worth $15 a month in convenience.

I use PagePlus Cellular with an iphone 4s which I bought on ebay

I pay $29.95 a month and I get 1200 minutes, 3000 text/picture messages and 250mb of data

They use the Verizon network which is the best for my area. I used to use Virgin Mobile but they use the Sprint network and after Hurricane Sandy, I found out just how bad the cell service was when I could not make any calls.

You can use most any phone that was originally used on Verizon (but not Verizon prepaid phones).

I personally use a company called Kitty Wireless to handle paying each month as they have specials with % off codes.

You can port your old phone number over, so there is no problem with that too.

I have my mom on the plan too. I bought her a used Verizon droid phone with a touch screen and a keyboard and pay only $12 for her plan, which is 250 minutes and 250 text and 5mb of data.

Any questions just ask. I love the Verizon service and less than half the price and no contract!
