Hi All,

Ive been to Orlando a few times and last time I stayed at the Dolphin and wasnt impressed.

Everytime I see pictures of the rooms at the various resorts all I see is gairish carpets and bedcovers that make me cringe.

Are there any Boutique style hotels near the parks smaller and more personal?

It seems that I have been promoting this hotel quite a bit in the past few days, but the Royal Plaza Hotel, located on Disney property near Downtown Disney is exactly what I think you are looking for.

this is not small at all - but very deluxe - you might like it

there is surpose to be a new hotel (okay fairly new) - but it is not near Disney or even US/IOA - it is in downtown.

The Gaylord Palms (that Spicey mentioned) is gorgeous. We haven't stayed there, but we went through it last year when we went to see ICE!

I know we'd love to stay there (just a little too expensive for our taste).

Perri House is a B&B, not a boutique hotel.

Hotel Royal Plaza is definitely NOT a boutique hotel.

Gaylord Palms is a large convention hotel. NOT a boutique hotel.

I honestly can't think of a single boutique hotel or resort in the area--pretty much everything here caters to mass-market. Probably what USED to be the Disney Inn would have been the closest with 288 or so tastefully decorated rooms, but that was a long time ago, and it hasn't existed as a Disney run resort in ten years now.

You might want to look into the Ritz Carlton Grande Lakes. Club level there would probably offer the closest to a boutique hotel experience in this area.

Originally a section of the Portofinio Bay Hotel (Universal) was going to operate like a boutique hotel, including a butler to unpack for you. I don't think enough customers were willing to pay for that level of service.

Hilton is going to put a Waldorf Astoria in the Bonnet Creek development. That may be what you're looking for.

Some of the larger hotels like GP and JW Marriott don't match what you're looking for but the level of service is generally superior to the Disney deluxe hotels.

there is definitely one in the middle of Orlando's downtown - it was on the travel channel. but it is not near WDW.

If it's what I'm thinking of, it's over near the Parliment Club and caters to a G&L clientele...

They are smaller hotels, not chains and usually with under 200 rooms. They are extremely tastefully decorated, and offer an exceptional level of personalized service.

DH and I stay at a place every year that could be described as "Boutique." They have 128 rooms, are not a chain, are a four diamond property, and offer very, very personalized guest service and stunning rooms--many individually decorated.

My guess is that the staff to guest ratio is about 1:2.5 and although the atmosphere is elegantly casual, the service is still stellar. The phone at guest services is answered on the first ring. The rooms are SPOTLESS. If you order room service it arrives quickly--hot and exactly as you ordered it. Anything that is legal they will arrange as long as you are willing to pay for it, and they will do so without a hassle. If I e-mail the concierge prior to arrival and ask her to set up the same spa treatments I had on our last visit, I know it will be done. If we want a bottle of a specific wine in the room on arrival, it will be there, and if they dont have it stocked in thier cellar, they will get it. That's the level of service we are talking about that differentiates a boutique hotel from a mass market or chain establishment.
