:) Hi. I usually go to Disneyland during December for the holidays and I was wondering if Small World will be ready for the holiday season. My family and I usually come during the late summer and in December from the East Coast. I called DL and I got conflicting information. One cast member told me that it would be back in early 2009 as the new Small World and for this 2008 holday season onle Haunted Mansion Holiday will be running...I called again and another CM told that Small World Holiday may be ready for 2008. Does anyone know when Small World is expected to return? I think the refurb will take longer than expected.

Last I heard it is mot likely going to be Mid Jan. of 2009, as they want to be able to reopen it without the holiday overlay first.

WHAT? Are you telling me It's a Small World is closed and will not be open for our June 2008 trip? My 4 year old will be crushed, she has been talking about it since our visit when she was just turned 3!

No, it's been closed since the holiday version closed in January. They are doing a HUGE update on it (some good, some reportedly bad, additions and changes).

Hmm... I had heard it will open with the overlay.

I'm not sure if officially anything has been said.

DLR programs at the park say November 2008..for what it's worth.:flower3:

Would Disneyland want to promote the updated Small World first and then have no holiday overlay in 2008?

Is it true they are adding Elements to the ride that will involve Disney Characters? Dont get my wrong, I love my disney, but seriously! The ride stands on its own, and I dont think its wise to add charcters to the ride.

From what I have read they are trying to add characters in a subtle manner by putting a Simba in the African section and an Alice in an England section, etc.

IMO, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I agree. I know they think they need to update it for the current generation, but When I was a child(Im only 18) I enjoyed it the way it was. I was okay with the Nemo Subs but I hope they dont change everything!

I'm actually okay with the addition of characters, as long as it's done tastefully.

It's losing the rain forest to put in a USA part that I'm more worried about. But I'll remain optimistic!

When we were there last week, we rode the train many... many... times. Each time the CM (different ones obviously ;) ) announced SW would be re opening in time for Thanksgiving 2008. I also asked a CM in Fantasyland during our trip and got the same answer.

It will be opened in November. Im not kidding. They are making huge changes so it will be closed until november. It will be back in time for the holidays.

As the Holiday version? Or the updated Small World?

Al only gets about 10%-20% of his information correct; that being said, it appears (based on other sources) that he may be correct on this one, but note that by Winter of 2009, they mean Jan. or Feb. not Nov. or Dec.
