small white worms?

Anyone know what these are? I found a few on a peice of bread the kids dropped behind the sofa the other day then came to relize there were more living in the sofa (EWW!!!) so the sofa went out to the buring pile but now I have to know what they were, so I can make sure they dont come back.

Years ago my husband would throw meat and chicken wings, etc. right into the kitchen trash without bagging it first. He'd take the trash bag out of the kitchen can and throw it (untied ) into the outside trash can. One week he forgot to put the trash out, and the trash men came early. The trash had to sit outside one more week. Well, one day I went out to put a bag in and the can was swarming with maggots. Someone told me to pour in bleach ... not such a bright idea. The maggots overflowed out of the can and poured onto the ground. The can was about 15 feet from the house and maggots made their way towards the house, up the back stairs, under my screen door into the kitchen!!!!

I assure you they look nothing like maggots (ewww). Im feeling all creepy crawly now too. time to deep clean the living room! It was my freinds couch before it was mine (she has 4 kids) who knows what she did to it? Note to self: no more freebie funiture.

Are you sure one of your cats didn't kill something and leave it laying around under the couch or a chair. Typically a piece of bread isn't enough to cause an infestation of maggots. You need to do a THOROUGH cleaning of your apartment to find out where they are coming from.

Also, pantry moth larva look just like maggots. Check everything (even closed boxes) in your pantry to make sure you don't have moths. The moths are small and white and the larva look just like maggots.

Cats dont go outside so there only kills are bugs. Pantry moths? do they look like fruit flies when they hatch? I just had a fruit fly issue. they kinda look like indian meal worms. I just went through the pantry this weekend in prepration for moving so theres not much in there. Some sealed boxes of jelllo, mac and cheese and dry milk and no bugs have been seen near there

Nope not it. I live on the second floor so it would be very hard for a mouse to make it in here.

I don't know if you have a dead mouse or not, but it's not hard for a mouse to get to the second floor apartment.

Dont tell me that! I perfer not to know. Wouldnt a dead mouse smell? we had one in our heating vent once and iCK! I think there indian meal worms. Cant wait to get the carpet cleaner and deep clean the carpets tommrow.

Yes, I live in a hi-rise apartment and a mouse got into my place and was able to climb up on a shelf where I was storing food. They have very long claws they use for climbing.

Indian meal worms are pretty much he same thing as a pantry moth. The worms turn into moths from little cocoons.
