I spoke w/my source yesterday and have a few small tidbits to share: the source had an opportunity to speak w/the individual who is second in charge of the hotel. A few questions were asked, such as "Will the hotel REALLY be ready come March?" The answer received, which I thought was rather interesting was, "It has to be. Disney will not allow us to move guests again." Hmmmm....I would have thought there would have been a resounding, "Well, we've all ready pushed it back a few times so we'll definitely be ready!" But, nope. Just another 'we have no choice.' Now, I'm not so positive the hotel will be ready come March.
The source asked why work was not being done on Sat if they're so far behind. Mgr responded that Sats were only supposed to be make up days...in case of bad weather during the week. My source brought up that if they're so far behind then shouldn't they be using make up days to catch up? No answer to that!
Parking was the last issue of interest that was discussed. Apparently, there will only be 500 spaces. Keep in mind there will be almost 600 rooms, not to mention a few hundred employees. The source asked if those 500 spaces included the employees. A definitive answer could not be given except to say the Mgr "thought" they did not. The parking lot that was on the right side (as you face the hotel) has shrunk in size. Apparently, Disney has built a new pro-shop on the parking lot and the remaining spaces now belong to Disney. SoG guests will have to go to the left and into the parking garage (I assume they're still building the garage).
As to the Gold Leaf package (someone on the board recently asked about it), I asked my source what was going on with it. I was told it was being sold for the new hotel and yes, it FINALLY is a true savings package. However, I cannot tell you how much you are saving. You are going to have to do the legwork for that nor was I told if any changes to the package had been made.
So, that's about it. Not a whole lot that's interesting or new, but the little there is, doesn't sound very promising to me. The one thing I did hear was it appeared the Mgr was undeniably disgusted w/the construction company. I'd love to know what's going on, but I don't think I'll be able to find out.
