Hi

I am wondering if anyone can tell me how long they waited to purchase a small dvc points contract on the resale market. It seems that there is a lot of availability for larger contracts, however, the small ones don't get posted very often, or if they do, they show sale pending.

Thanks!

small is relative (25 points for an add-on vs. for a new DVC memeber.... or 100 pnts).

I bought 100 points from Timeshare Store and got a great deal very quickly (actually the deal was so good it closed me on the concept).

your other big question is making it past ROFR... DVC is seems to be getting more aggressive on the micro (e.g. 25, 50, etc.) pnt contracts for new members. Remember that when you buy DVC Direct the min is 150 pnts... so to administer and manage a 25 pnt member is very costly.

Best recommendation... call the Board Sponsor (Timeshare Store)... they are very good and helpful (and LOW PRESSURE). Then you can go on a wiat list (the best deals are sold before they are posted).

Good luck

I consider "small" contracts as being 149 or less, and you will almost always see them as sale pending. If you want to purchase one of those smaller contracts, you'll almost have to get on a waitlist with a reseller. Then when a contract comes available, they will call you before they put it up on their website.

It could also take longer depending on where you wanted to get points, how many points you wanted, and if you wanted a "fully loaded" or stripped contracts...

I was hoping to purchase a 50-75 point contract to begin with and possibly add on additional points at a later date. I want to make sure I will get full use of the points before I commit to 150 through disney. This would not be an add on as I don't currently have any points. Is this something that can be done, or is it best to just purchase the 150 now through disney?

You can only make an initial purchase of a contract with less than 150 points from a reseller; Disney won't sell less than 150 points to a non-member. HTH!! :)

I would contact the resellers and get a realistic picture of new members passing ROFR with that size contract. From the Posts here, it doesnt look good, but the resellers will have the big picture.
Success Stories of new members passing ROFR on small contracts recently have been slim to none.
That added to the fact, you may have to wait months on the resellers waitlists to get a crack at that small contract may help you decide which is right for you.

We were put on a waitlist at The Timeshare Store on April 4th for 50 - 75 points at the BCV. Our call came on June 30th for a 75 point contract. We were already members, and not sure if that helped us pass ROFR or not. I had noticed atleast one contract in this range show up as SALE PENDING, so I contacted them and was told that the first person that saw it had it sold immediately, before my contact even saw it. I had been told when I waitlisted to provide every contact phone number available because these small contracts are sold in seconds.
