Hi all. We booked our first trip to Fort Wilderness over Easter Break !! Whoo hoo :cool1: My mom and stepdad would LOVE to come with us, but they cant afford to stay at one of the cabins on site and we just don't have room in our 5th wheel for 2 more (we have 3 kids). I was wondering if any of you knew of any small, inexpensive (but decent) motels in that area. I've searched online but keep coming up with the big chain places.

I also wanted to say that I've been reading this board for months and have enjoyed all of your posts and pictures. I can't wait to take my first trip there and have my own news to report :woohoo:

My MIL and FIL like to go camping with us, but we can't all fit comfortably in our camper either. They bring a tent and an air matress on a frame so they aren't on the ground. They only use the tent for sleeping in anyway so to them it isn't a big deal. I know our site at Ft. Wilderness was plenty big enough to put a tent with our camper.

Hi! :)

Going along with what the Edgington's said, how about a tent for the kids? And mom & dad can stay in the trailer with you!

I considered that too but my mom wants to sleep on a "real" bed not the pull out sofa or an air mattress. My dh sure isn't going to sleep on either of those so we can't give my mom our bed. My mom also likes to be able to have her own space in the evenings after a long day.

We stayed at the "Springhill Suites Marriot Village" at the corner of 4 and 535. It is very nice and cost $90. I don't know what you consider cheap, but it is good.

Have you looked at POP Century. It is also good.

or try Extended Stay Deluxe Orlando Lake Buena Vista. AAA has it listed for $90 a night.

Try Priceline. I know some people have gotten three star hotels near Disney for as little as $40 per night. Go to biddingfortravel.com first for ideas on how to bid. Good luck.

Keep in mind, by them staying offsite and you staying at FW, they won't be anywhere near you guys in proximity. FW is all the way into disney property and there are no outside motel/hotels near there. Also, they will have to pay for parking each day unless you can get permission for them to park in the main FW lot. Otherwise, they'd need a parking pass in the windshield. There are some decent priced hotels out on the edge of property but that is still a good 15-20 ride in, depending on what park they're going to or the Fort. I wish the cabins weren't so darn expensive.
They could consider one of the All Stars; they are still far out from the Fort, but they are affordable and you'd have the parking pass. Good Luck!

Maybe they can try to get AAA rates at Port Orleans Riverside, it's not too far to get to from FW, they'd get the perks of staying on property, and it's very peaceful there. Loads of trees, beautiful landscaping. My parents stayed there a few years ago and loved it.

Cypress pointe - here is a site with rates
www.hotelkingdom.com

they can probably go with a studio - has a bed and a kitchenett. no washer and dryer - that is in the 2-bedroom.

this is about 2 miles from OKW (a mile is the DD area). they can get to you pretty easy.

just turn right out of the resort - turn left at the traffic light - then about 3 blocks up turn left into disney's downtown area. then in front of DD turn right - then turn into (left turn) Disney Vacation Way - then at the traffic light turn right - at the next traffic light (this road will deadend) turn left - FW will be on the right in less than a mile (pass the 2 golf courses).

someone say that governsor at DD was on sale with magic card

here is the site for DD hotels

Go to Priceline.com. You can probably get a place in a chain for about $30 a night.
