Hello I have recently begun to deal with some painful mobility issues involving my left hip and a bulging disc in my neck. So far physical therapy is providing only limited relief and my doctor has yet to approve surgery.
Oddly I have no trouble walking, in fact the more I move the better I actually do. Standing, however, for any length of time becomes unbearable. I have been able to compensate at work by placing a stool in my exam rooms and surgery suites and so far it seems to be bearable. I keep a tennis ball handy to massage my neck and that helps a lot as well. The problem is my wife and I have a trip planned in Sept for our 25th wedding anniversary and I am concerned how this will affect her enjoyment.
I understand Disney encourages those with mobility issues to use a wheelchair but I just feel like that is way more than I really need and having to push one around empty most of the day will cause more problems than it cures.
Has anyone ever used, or have thoughts on using a small folding chair or one of those three legged camp stools to sit on while in line? Not an ideal solution I know, I am sure there will be discomfort involved but it seems like a far simpler solution than a wheelchair only to be used while in line for rides. My concern is what to do with the chair while on the rides.
The only other option I can think of is having my wife wait in line and I jump the queue when she gets close to the front. This kind of feels like missing the point of having an anniversary trip together and I also can't imagine how much attitude I would get trying to pass people in line.
Any thoughts or advice appreciated, thank you
